12a 600 holley help

hey,i have just recently got back into the fb's,problem is i really dont know too much about them ,anyway my info from the guy i bought it from was,the fuel pressure reg was set to seven or eight he lowered it to six,the car is a 12a with the 600 holey rb headers full tune up,oil change etc,the car is not pulling strong through the gears, he said the car was set a certain way,but he touced it because the car was very accelarated at idle,i really dont know what work has been done,he said he had to cut the exuast gasket due to big ports ,so i am assuming it has some sort of work,i took it through the gears and at around five she bucks and backfired,it only does that at full throttle no smoke ouuta the muffler or overheating, just think i need a tune, what yo guys think, thanks.

Ummm...didn't you just post that you found a mint GSL-SE? Did the 13B get yanked for the 12A? Once you get into ridiculous situations like a 600 cfm Holley on a street RX-7, you're getting into a rex that wants to see strip duty and isn't exactly a street car anymore...I'm sure it's been done but normally, you'll see something in the area of a 450 cfm on a DD RX-7 with a big Street Port 12A.

Let's see if any of the 600 cfm Holley-on-a-12A guys have something to say.

the 600 is a bit much for the stock port 12a. rb's holley for the stock 12a is 465. had one, worked great. u could probably get it to run half way decent by changing to small jets.

IN carb questions?

i have a stock 12a from an 85 gs. It needs a new carb, and i know that racing beat offers a holley conversion, but i was wondering if anyone else offers this, or if i can get the carb without the intake by using an adapter plate. in short, im looking for a Good cost effective solution.

cheapest way out is to rebuild the one u got. sure u could just buy the holley and use an adaptor plate. only problem is that the bores in the holley is spread father apart than the holes in the stock intake so they wont match up.
