Both have pros and cons
pros
1 piece less moving parts
stonger
cons
harder to fit for install
as the plates wear the the apex seal doesn't
pros
2 piece as the plates wear the end of the apex moves to seal the space
easy to set the spacing
cons
more moving parts
when apex seals blow it normaly the small corner of a 2piece

Im realy starting to lean towards the 1 peice seal.
im running a 10a in my rx3 that has 160.000k on the clock and when i recently tore it down to replace the oil control rings everything else was in spec still.
that engine has 1 piece seals so they are capable of lasting.
the 10a still has exelent compresion as well even after so many kms.
