$200 91 project...no start
Well.....after reading thru quite a few faq's and sticky links I think I should try again to get the original engine started befor putting in the 88 "rebuilt" I picked up at a junk yard. It's NOT the plug and play I was hoping for........Unfortunately I didn't do my homework befor buying the 88 engine ($275 w tranny) and it looks like a pain in the A$$ to make it work right..... The 91 has sat around for 5-6 years and apparantly there are things I should do befor giving up on the original engine. I can tell you it has no compression but everything else seems to be working....Befor I pushed it out back a month or so ago I squirted some (light) oil into the leading plug holes and turned it over a few times hoping to loosen up the apex seals. I didn't work and I went looking for a replacement engine. Seems I should have used some Heavier, like 20-50 wt oil and turned it by Hand.... instead of w the starter. SOooo.... If anyone has any other Ideas besides those my mission now is try and get the original engine going! Any help appreciated.....

No compression on either rotor? It's either horribly blown (rare for an NA, not uncommon in a turbo that has been modified improperly) or just not making compression due to sitting.
If things are stuck, then carb cleaner through the spark plug, exhaust and intake ports can often clear it up. You can also look through the exhaust ports at each apex seal to determine whether everything is in place as it should be.
