Nice streach of road anthony, only problem i see with that is battery power. Need to have the cigarette lighter working, bring an adapter, an inverter, an extra battery, etc., so we dont run out of laptop.

Thanks for the info.
If everything winds up like I hope, maybe this will turn into a nice little group tuning session?

I will be bringing my laptop with me, as well, if things work out between Claudio and I (some things beyond my control) which has Halwin, for those of you using Haltech. Just in case battery power is a real issue. I have about 5 hours worth of battery to work with.

I actually want to buy a new laptop when i get there, ive been shopping around for a few weeks now, and i pretty much know what i want, just want to find a good deal. And of course, when it comes to tuning on the road, you need something that will last a few hours on battery, im also getting an inverter, an DC/AC laptop adapter, and a split for the cigarette lighter.

Talk about tools of the trade huh?

Oh, and if anybody knows where i can buy a laptop with these specs for a great price feel free to let me know.

Centrino processor
512meg RAM (preferably 1gig)
80+GB hard drive (ill take a 60gig if the rest of the hardware complements)
14.1 screen or smaller (dont want a big laptop, tired of carrying a heavy bag all the time)
9 cell battery (ill consider a 6 cell if i find the DC car adapter for adecent price)
DVD burner
USB ports (at least 2)
fire wire port
wireless (even better if it has bluetooth)

I have browsed and browsed the internet, ebay, dell.com, best buy, and have seen some good deals, but i was hoping to find my dream machine for a price that wont leave too big a hole in my pocket.

I have those things you mentioned, I think.

My laptop has basically all of those things you mentioned, but it was pricey at ~1700.

If a day winds up getting set up where many people will be there, I'll have no problems about letting you borrow my equipment, if you can't find what you're looking for in time.

Well, looks like there are a good number of people whom want tuning or maybe even an install or 2, so i might be spending more than 2 weeks, who knows, maybe even stay longer. I might also go to TX and come back, so that might also make the guys who arent quite ready yet to get up and running.

Also, i should stress, that it is impreative that for any install or tune to be done as smoothly as possible on any kind of car, it would be ideal that all cars be 100% in running condition, so that as soon as the ECU is installed, the engine can be turned on, tested, made to run at idle and free rev, and should be able to be driveable that way we spend as less down time as possible so as to not waste time.

That is what i ask from each owner so that things can go smoothly and we dont leave anything half done.

Well, monday is almost upon us, i arrive in JFK around 6pm and will start calling people as soon as i get there.

Also, i talked to Rafi at DRT, and he told me that if i come with a few cars, any given day he can give me a rate of 85 dollars per hour. Sounds fare, doesnt it? If anybody has any other options, please dont hesitate to post them up.

See you guys there.

Well, i have talked to 2 people from PA, if there are enough cars, we can try and work something out. If you know of a few guys with tuning needs, or even 1 or 2 that might want to do a full installation, im up for that too, if need be.

Im very flexible, schedule wise, the important thing to consider is that if there arent enough people maybe its not worth it, or if anybody wants to cover travel and accomodations on their own, thats cool too. Let me know.

Well, where ever the cars are. Right now most of the guys that need work are in NY, and i will most likely be working out of Rafi's place DRT Racing, so if you want to take the time to organize the NJ guys, that way we make the best out of the trip and everybody gets the work done and done right. Right now, i have about 9 guys from NY, and 3 from PA, but the PA guys are spread out on all corners so i dont know if that part of the trip will happen.

Tomorrow as soon as i get in and relax after arriving i will start calling people.

Well, the trip is already in full swing, i have only been able to tune one car so far, but next week a few more guys are looking to be ready. I have also posted a new thread for the PA guys (maybe the CT guys too??) so that we can try and arrange something since there seems to be a few guys that are interested.

Here is the link to the PA thread. https://www.rx7club.com/ne-rx-7-forum-30/attention-pa-ct-guys-ny-nj-trip-full-swing-621938/
