What'd the actual paint job end up costing you?

Sure I do, but I didn't add the cost of a blower into what I'm charging you for the car yet

It was broken down by panel and listed as "refinish, prep and paint" so I don't know how much was bodywork and how much is the actual paint job. I'd be happy to bring you up there for a quote though. My total was about $3200 including filling in a bunch of holes, smoothing over a dozen dings and repairing the hole in the front bumper cover.

I'd recommend waiting until mine is finished and you know what type of quality they will produce. I don't expect to be disappointed, but until I see MY car done with MY own eyes, it's just another body shop.

the body shop painted this car

it looks flawless where they did the work ...

only things that i would question on this car is the rear saleen "diaper deal" i guess its a rollpan

dustin didnt have it bolted in the right way for a long time so i think it flexed too much and the paint started to peel but that is no fault of the body shop

flex addative can only do so much.

Really. I was thinking pink would go really well. Seems to be a real JDM pick. That and the "House of Maaco" Baby blue.

personally if i had the car to paint... it'd be done a deep green or a brilliant red with a candy flake on either color... nothing crazy... just a real nice subtle color with a lot of depth ... but joey is doing this as a daily driver not a showpiece

I really liked the color on my blue car. I like anything with a blue metallic flake. The yamaha f1 blue color, also the NSX blue is a great color.

Long Beach blue pearl. MMMMM sexy.

Maybe I can get a big park bench to use as a wing and paint that pink just for you

I thought about changing the color, but I like the Montego Blue. I like silver, but not only would it look like *** with a tan interior, it would cost twice as much to paint if the entire car needed to be painted a different color. And I don't want another black car for awhile - we have two right now, and neither one of them are looking all that shiny at the moment as it is.

Just got home from the body shop. The paint looks great, except for a chip that apparently was overlooked on the passenger side door. That and a run on the bottom of the wing. They're going to fix that stuff next week.

The wanted me to bolt the parts back on before they finished buffing it - the parts were moving around on the stands and they didn't want to drop them, and figured buffing the entire car at once would be easier. So there's rubbing compound all over the car and combined with my POS camera you really can't tell how good it looks. It does look VERY good though.

I brought it to them with the bumper covers and fenders off, so that's how I got it back. I just hung them on for a few pictures, so the seams will not look this bad once I actually put some bolts in the parts.

I set the taillights and 3rd brake light in place just to see what it looked like. I don't like the tails since it looks like someone tried to make their own 99-spec lights out of them - besides, I just dropped one and broke it Guess I'm on the lookout for a new set of lights now, as I don't know if I can repair the break and repaint the lenses.

Unfortunately, no. Scott's pnuemonia is the reason for that. I told him you were anxious, but obviously his health is more important since you weren't driving the car right away. I'd give him til Monday and threaten to kneecap him. Been long enough

Bolted the wing on and also the set of wheels I picked up the other day. Undecided on the wheels, I may still go with one of the other sets I was looking at. These need to be repainted and one has a pothole dent that needs repair.

Keep in mind when looking at it that it sits a lot higher than it will when I put the motor and trans in, and I haven't installed the lowering springs yet.

That would be cool.... AWD rx7... you could prolly use two electric pancake motors for the front drive... although that would jack up the unsprung weight significantly and prolly put the front/rear weight distribution out of balance.
