Steve Kan tuning session/dyno day Sept. 10th
Steve Kan tuning session/dyno day Sept. 10th
That’s right; Steve Kan is coming back by popular demand. Deposits will be $200, with the remaining $150 to be paid the day of tuning. Last time Steve came we had a excellent turnout and a great time.
The fee for a street tune is still the same $350. Everyone will meet at the same location as last time, which is Car Version 2 in Delaware just over the Delaware Memorial bridge. The guys over at Car Version were nothing but helpful last time, I wouldn't want to have this take place anywhere else.
If we get enough people the tuning will be split into two days. Since Car Version 2 isn't opened on Sunday, the first day will be dedicated to Dyno tuning (which will be $125 per hour) and dyno pulls ($90 for 3 pulls and a printout). Once the dyno tuning is completed that day street tuning will commence. I guess it would make sense to find out who wants street tuning and who wants dyno tuning first.
So who's interested?
I prefer checks or money orders but if you insist...
My pay pal is eplondon3@netscape.net and I'll need $206.50 to cover pay pal fees.
-Dan
P.S.
When you send your deposit please post in this thread what your setup is, or if you don't feel comfortable PM me with it.
Deposits received:
Jio (Amp) $200
Martin (camartintrip or something like that) paid in full
Len (Bacon) $200
Albert (BRTNCUSTOM) $200
Mike (Rallimike) $200
Now it's time to see who wants dyno tuning. I know Jio and Len want it...Jio if you can get to the shop around 9:30 or 10 we can get you done first no problem.
Here is a picture of what the dynopack looks like: This picture is actually taken at Car Version 2

Car Version 2s address is

I'll be there. I'll send the deposit after I'm done typing this.
Mods as follows:
M2 Intake, '99 Spec Sequential Twins, Greddy SMIC, Fluidyne Rad, Nippondenso Comp Fuel Pump, Power FC, Unorthodox Main Pulley, M2 Downpipe, RB Dual Tip Catback, stock injectors, stock ignition, stock main cat, fresh rebuilt motor (Xavier @ RX-7 Store) with proper break-in complete.
Also have a 9.5lb flywheel and ACT S/S Clutch, not that it matters much for tuning. I'm looking for both dyno and street tune, probably somewhere around 13 to 14 psi on 93 pump gas (although I know 14psi may be pushing it on stock injectors).

Ken I think I got your paypal
As for tuning to 13-14psi, it might be to much. We'll find out though he'll tune to 12 and then you can go from there.
By the way I spoke with Steve and he is cutting this off at 10 people...more people can put deposits down but I can't guarantee you'll be tuned. So far we have six people confirmed.
Thanks,
Dan

just curious.. when does the clock start for the hour dyno...
wonderin if the hour includes strap time... or in this case.. hub connection time..
include pullies in my mods as well.. just for ap alt and main...

hahaha, don't worry about the mods Jio...it's mostly just for power adders or anything that will affect the A/F ratio. We had Rich on the Dyno last time and they only charged $125 for it, they're pretty leanient about it. The hour pretty much starts when you're all hooked up and steve actually starts.
$125 is actually pretty cheap, they waived the $50 setup fee.
Alright so the tuning order thus far is Jio, Len, then Fourty. Each Car put on the dyno for tuning will take about an hour and a half.
Thanks,
Dan

Is anyone else getting race gas? If i fill up the thurs B4 we go and get a extra 5 gal i should have enough for this Session, but if anyone needs some i dont know if ill be able to transport it down
Yeah, we can meet at the same location, but it might be better to just meet at my house since I have tools readily available. My house is only a mile from the shop.
I forgot to mention I can get C16 but it's $10 a gallon. I'll have it ready at the tuning session upon request. I might have a problem getting more then ten gallons of it since I only have two five gallon jugs. Thats right I said jugs

I'd like to get on the dyno as well, so please add me to the list. But a question about the cost. For a dyno tune, it's $125 per hour, plus $90 for 3 pulls (plus the $350 for Steve), correct?
I'm not set on the 13 or 14 psi, but I would like to be in the 330 to 350 whp range. Think I can get there at 12?
Also, does anyone know if the O2 bung location on an M2 DP is easy enough to reach without burning yourself? I've never had any reason to try and reach up under there before...

The cost for the dyno tune is just $125 per hour + $350 for the tuning. The dyno pulls are for people who just want numbers.
It's tough to say what numbers you will put down. But those numbers seem like they are pretty high for 12psi.
As for the DP...it really depends on what version you have. It's just a pain to jack up every car and then wait untill it cools down again to take the o2 sensor off agian. Time is a big factor in tuning on saturday, when tuning on a dyno things seem to take a lot longer then on the street.

Umm, Steve can probably bring plugs with him if you'd like although I'm not to sure of pricing. I am using iridium plugs from like sparkplugs.com and gapped to.22 they're like $6 a piece, but you need a special low profile socket to put em on.
