Reston / DC / Baltimore
Hey everyone. I'm new to the D.C area and looking at getting back into a 7.
I used to live in Detroit and was on these forums a few years back, I had a 91 n/a that I loved but it blew a motor on me =( I sold it and moved to Ket West where I didn't need a car the last 2 years. Although a buddy of mine there has a 620hp 87 turbo he built. Its an amazing car.
Now that I am back into a area that I need a car i'm hoping to get another 7. I would love to get a TII and away from an N/A. I'm currently saving up some money but in the meentime would love to talk to other members and get to know people in the local area.
I work at IAD and am looking at getting a second job once i'm back from a short vacation back home at the end of June.
I was wondering where everyone meets, if there are some local tracks, or events that people attend. I'll be shopping around for a 7 hopefully by the end of summer, prolly will get a daily until then + for winter. I havn't seen snow in 2 years. LOL.
A little about me, I'm 27 and from Detroit. I am working on my TOFL certs to teach oversea's but not sure how long that will take. I'm into driving, a nice track that has lots of corners is what i'm most interested in. Although I am into drifting its not the only driving style I like. Basicly attacking corners and learning new ways to handle my car is what I look for.
Other than that, I love to hang out with friends and do random crap. BBQ's, Vid games, drunken croquet.
Since i'm new to the area i'm hoping to find ways of meeting people with the same interests as me, i'm not much into clubs but pool at the bar is always fun.
Hope to talk to you all soon.

Welcome to the area. There are a bunch of owners in the neighborhood. As mentioned above, there is a weekly Friday night gathering here:

We're also fortunate to live 1 hour away from Summit Point which has 3 separate road courses. It's also about a 4 hour drive to VIR. Here is a list of some of the track events people are going to:

My next event is the NASA VIR in July. Also, next weekend (the 23rd) is Hyperfest at Summit point:

See ya around!

Thanks guys. I'm still learning the area. Its really hard when i'm not out actualy driving to learn roads and what not.
If I can i'll try to make it out to some of the Friday meets. Since I am without wheels right now might make it kinda hard, but i'm sure I'll find a way.

You might want to consider joining the Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington, DC. Check it out at www.mscw.com
