that sucks . there might be grills at fairmount park on the west side. I'll go over there this weekend or next week and see if there are any areas with parking and grills.

*edit* assuming that if fairmount park has grills and parking, people don't mind the location change.

Just my .02, take it or leave it. I think the event should stay at FDR. We can bring some chips, dip, beverages, cookies, whatever. I am coming to meet everyone and see your cars. I am not that worried about eating. Even **** for hoagies or sandwiches wouldn't be all that hard, and someone wouldn't have to worry about being the cook. There are park benches down there, right? I don't know what everyone else thinks, but this spot is pretty central and we are looking at a good turn out already. I wouldn't change the spot.

i say stay at FRD but wouldnt mind changing to FMP.... if there wasnt a damn Phillies game i know i could get a nice section of the wachovia parking lot and get a nice huge grill to bring outside.... but with the game, it makes it kinda hard....

it would have to be earlier in the day foe sure.... there is a WWE Live wresteling event at 7:30 (6pm doors) and Dragon Tales at 10:30am (9:30 doors) and a 2pm show. (1pm doors).
parking will be minimal for dragon tales shows, but still a hassle aranging the parking attendents to allow all rx7's and 8's in for free....

just leave it when and where it is, we will find a way to accomodate and like Trav said....it's about the cars, the food is just a bonus.
Just my opinion.

If you guys are going to change location please let the Tri State Club know..at least a week or so before. I think FDR is fine....it might be easier for everyone to bring a food item and have it all sit at bench or something...

I agree with some of the other guys. I think that if we change the date now it may cause confusion and frustration.

Maybe next time we can meet at a park where there is less going on (games, children events, etc.). Being that I just moved here from VA I can't really suggest any parks. I have only visited a few of them in my area so far. I do know that French Creek State Park is very nice.

http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/statepar...enchcreek.aspx

Although, I think it is probably way to far of a drive for the guys coming from NJ and DE.

I agree. If you change the location now then a lot of the people that want to come will not know it will be changed and it will cause a lot of confusion. If anyone wants food then they should bring it themselves. I am thinking about bringing a small grill and some food. I havent decided yet though.

Please make a decision soon if we are keeping this meet as is because I wanna try to organize a caravan from N/NE Philly and the northern suburbs and I also have to report to the rx8 forum what the deal is. My vote is to keep it the same, but I am not going to consider it the same until one of the senior members (or the organizers) post that it is the same. Let me know. Thanks.

Yeah, we are keeping it the same time (May 23, 2:30pm) and the same place. Even though people keep posting about different places, this is staying at the same spot to avoid confusion.

Just PLEASE check back in the next few days on food info. I would like this to be a bbq, and for that we need to have food. I will discuss with Keith what is going to happen for that.

If anyone has a little portable grill you are willing to bring, please let me know. I am gonna try to bring my friend's so we can get this rolling.

Thanks Touring, I will get a thread started for RSVPs on the 8 board so we can get an accurate count from over there and I will get threads started on both boards for a caravan from my neck of the woods.

hehe...cool. that's my birthday weekend! ok, same lot. make sure everyone knows to drive IN the park...not just around the block, then see nobody and get frustrated then go home
oh and can someone be so kind as to bring a football or frisbee so we can atleast be somewhat active. hot chicks would be nice too

-jet-

edit: holy ****! just browsing through the thread, i see the head count...OMG!! keith, would you consider this to be the largest turnout for a philly meet? IIRC, our last FDR meet was a grand total of 8 peeps and 5 cars. lol!!!

K guys, I talked to Keith about the food, and this is what it is the scenario.

Since we don't have grills and getting grills seems like a troublesome task, burgers, dogs, etc look like they might be out of the picture. Some have said this is all about the cars, so forget the food. I am all for that, but if some people still feel food would be good, then we can do little stuff like drinks, chips, pretzels and other **** like that.

Please chime in people and let me know what you are thinking. As much as I set a date and time, this is not about what I want, but everyone else, so let's hear some ideas.

Pretzel, chips, cookies whatever. I'll stop at WAWA and grab a few jumbo bags of snack food. Along with some soda or iced tea (I will try not to forget cups). Maybe some other people can volunteer to bring a few items.

guys its not that i dont want to bring the food, its that there is no place to cook it.... i cant see people bringing grills from far away with charcoal and lighter fluid and all that. i cant believe the grills are not in the park this year.
