That looks like a nice place, but you have to deal with reservations and it will cost money on top of food. I don't think the guys from the philly area would pick out somewhere in which we would all be in danger. And it will be a large group of people with our cars easily within view.

So personally I still like FDR.

And Amp, you better bring the CYM

Smells

When you are heading south on I-95 towards the Airport you will pass FDR on your Right and the NAVY
yard is on the left you go over that bridge and just as you are coming to the crest and on your way down
you can smell the swamp and the sewage treatment plant and that wonderfull free mulch that they treat the
crap with !

So , FDR is on the other side of the swamp(were Jimmy
Hoffa is ) and with the right wind SUUUUWEEEEE!

I'ts such a lovly smell When your going on a flight out of Phila and coming home the first thing you smell !

Hope this helps !

I'm affraid people are going to get the wrong impression here... please go to the park one of these days to verify for yourself that it does NOT smell, it's many miles from the area your talking about (the airport and the navy yards). Trust me... I've been to this park many times. Please don't give the people who don't know the impression that the park is garbage... it's not, it's very nice.

This sounds like you haven't even been to the park. So why are you complaining? I'm new to the Philly area, but I trust these guys that the park is just fine.

Why don't we all just stop arguing about the park. We can meet there this time and if you still don't like it then maybe we can meet somewhere else next time.

I think that part of the reason for choosing this park is that it sounds like it is not unreasonably far for people coming from NJ. Whereas something farther out from the main part of Philly just adds to the drive that these guys are making, which I understand.

I'll be there, if it smells that bad we can just leave our cars running, that will dispearse any foul smell and replace it with the sweet smell of rotary exhaust...uuuhhh...aaaahhh...cough, cough, gasp!
But seriously, I know the smell and the plant you are refering too, I have never smelled it from theother side of the bridge and have been to plenty of game at the once great Vet. Stadium, and never caught a whiff. It will be fine, if not we can take a quick trip down 95 to Ridley Park, I think that is only like 15-20 mins isnt it? Someone more local know for sure. Though that could complicate things more.
just my 2cents, cause I know at the rx7/8 meet we talked about makin that the next meet point, and it is a beatiful park... but you may have to reserve space to park
Bob

Just in case anyone is wondering how large this will be, the RX8 guys are in. I spoke with Wayne and he was kind enough to move his meet to our date and our location. So this should be quite a large meet.

I can't wait!

also, just so you know... the only event is at the Spectrum that day. (23rd) its a kids show dragon tales that never draws more than 2,000 atendance. http://www.comcast-spectacor.com/cal...sp?mm=5/1/2004
BUT there is a Phillies day game at 1:35PM http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com...phi&m=5&y=2004
the good part is that there will not be 3 events going on like a phillies, phantoms, and Soul game.... so overflow of parking will not end up in the park. there is plenty of parking to accomodate everyone in the lots for a baseball game and a kids show.... i will talk to the guy Gary M. who is the head of parking to allow anyone into FDR that day because they sometimes do set up a pay to park entrance into FDR. but like i said, there should absolutly not be any overflow into the park.

I'm there, it sounds like fun.

Any other RX7 owners around here in West Philly?

No, I've got a red FD, but its garaged now and I don't drive it that often.

I've seen the black FD also, I have no idea who it is though.

I am currently in the process of working at the food details as well as the time. Make sure you check back for information on both.
