o here we go...

 

They have been slowly dying the past 3 years. and this year is by far the worst for the Thursday night meet. no one shows, no one goes. I went once like 3 weeks ago and it was me and two other people. 1 other rx7. I think people are just highly un motivated this year. hopefully it picks up, or next year gets better.

 

What's up guys, I know I'm bumping this thread from its grave but if anyone is interested we're trying to bring back the Mazda meets at Douglaston. Im not too active here, I'm more on the rx8club forums but I'll update here as much as I can.

It'll be the same location as the OP in this thread. Douglaston Plaza Thursdays at 7pm until whenever. We will be there most likely as soon as weather permits I.E early March theres a few Rx8s and some Speeds coming.

We're getting it posted on the NYC Mazdas instagram page as well as trying to spread the word on other social networks. It'd be nice to see some more 7s out so thats why I was updating here.

Never understood weekday meets, don't people have to wake up early for work the next day?

 

well, it normally started at like 7pm so people who did have to work the next day were able to get home early. BUT people never showed up at 7, turned out to be more like 9pm. People also complained about weekend meets because they wanted to spend that time with family and other things they had going on.

Was just nice to see the rotary community more together back in the day and try to make those meets and the bigger weekend events that happened yearly.

Hopefully we can get something together whether it's weekday or weekend.

Yeah for sure man. A group of us still randomly meet or meet up for the larger events and cruise. Will hope to kick something back off, even if its not every week something is better than nothing.

Hey guys, New here - after a few years of owning subarus, I recently pulled the trigger to import a 92 FD from the mother land. Not sure if this meet has been getting revived but when the weather warms up a bit I'd be down to come out.

 

we are planning stuff for next year. Will keep the thread updated as we go.

 

I came from a Subaru (still love them though). We should definitely set up a meet in the spring time. I never do car meets on weekdays though, don't people have work the next day?

I am full of crap, but thats cuz I haven't had enough fiber today. Why would we lie about a meet or get together, next time we give you a personal heads up, via a mailed letter.

Im also from queens and have been looking for fellow local rx7s! Down for a meetup in the months to come
