New to NJ, where are all my rotorheads?
New to NJ, where are all my rotorheads?
So I'm moving to NJ from Boston. I'll be living on the border of Secacus and Hoboken, I'm wondering if there are any RX7 people living near me?
I'm also wondering how realistic it is to keep both my cars. I have a DD Altima and a FC that I've been working on for a year or so, how much of a pain will it be as far as insurance and feasibility?

If you care much about your cars, full coverage is the way to go. If you're really young, try to tough it out with liab only. I pay 197 a month for both my FD and my DD altima. I live in secaucus. You'll prob see me around, i drive it ocassionally when i have free time and when the weather is nice.
i live in belleville, which is close to newark, theres a few of us in my area hidding, most of us sadly dont move past the tip of their driveway, however if you were to see a 7 in my area it would either be a red FD(on perfect days, and i mean perfect) or my blue FC...its my ATV, AWV, DD...
and insurance isnt that bad....especialy since they count it as more of a commuter car from todays standards....1.3L max stock around 200hp about 20 years old, their great cars but the insurance companys dont see them as sport anylonger(which i think is a good thing, saves me money)

lol Opps after re-reading my post, i think i misunderstood you.
I pay CURRENTLY 197.00 a month for my both cars, the FD on liab and the altima on full coverage since its my daily driver. This is during the winter months since i hardly drive the FD.
Now during reg months, i switch the FD to full which means both cars are FULL coverage and its about 286 or 290.00 a month, i cant remember.
I have allstate.
Im 25, thats prob why its a bit cheaper than most people.

My life in NJ isn't going to good...
1, Never in my life had I wanted a GPS, but now that I'm in NJ it seem necessary. I broke down and got a basic model. The verdict is still out on that one.
2, Yesterday was my first full day in NJ, I now know why the insurance is so high. I parked my car in front of my friend's house (really wide road). After I came back for dinner, my rear driver door is crushed in. How the lady managed to hit a parked car is beyond me. She was nice enough to leave a note.
3, I'm so lonely, I don't know what to do. As some of you know I could afford to bring both my cars down here. My FC is not parked in my friend's garage in Boston until I can afford to build it again.
I have no friends here, everyone seems mean. For example I was at home depot and this old white lady was trying to reach something out of her reach, so I asked her if she wants me to get it and her only reply was "no, you don't have to get me anything".
I haven't started my new job so no co-workers to speak of. No friends, no project car, I picked up my first cigerette in a while because I was so depressed. Some how I thought this is would be more exciting....

Holy S, I have lived in Lyndhurst for over a year now and never have seen the Tuesday meets. I am not much of a meet person but I am always looking to meet new guys in the area and am always down to help out if any of you need a hand installing something. I guess you can say that Im not a rotorhead anymore.
1995 PEP MB RX-7 – converted to LS1.
DD a 2001 Saturn SC1 that looks like it went through a warzone. This was thanks to residents of Hoboken that sideswiped me at night while they were probably drunk. I am so glad I don’t live there anymore.
Ppuppu – Yeah, there are some tools around here but there are also some really cool people. You just have to find them.
As far as most NJ residents’ driving capabilities: treat everyone of them like the just got smacked in the head a few times with a deadblow hammer. I have seen some of the stupidest stuff on the road up here than anywhere else in the country.

LOL yeah jersey people are very hostile. Its something to get used to otherwise you wont make it here lol to be perfectly honest.
My suggestion is if you have nothing to do, either early morning or late night go drive around studying backroads because they are ALOT of them and they come in handy when you have to zip through to get to a certain place, say for example your job or a gf's house, store etc etc.
What area are you staying at exactly?
If any of you are into auto-x or tracking the car, there are a group of us that are on an email list. Right now its just FD's (LS1 and Rotary) but we are open to all who are into the motorsport side of things.
I am going to try to keep this thread going for all the Bergen/Hudson/etc people. We can possibly do a BBQ in the spring. There is a great park in West Patteson off of Squirrelwood Rd.
