Bottom line is, you're going around acting all tough, posting "suck it up" and "deal with it" when you don't know what you're talking about. The AVERAGE SPEED on the beltway is 72 mph, while the speed limit is 55 mph. It's SEVERELY underrated for revenue purposes. It's not that ppl CHOOSE to speed; it's that there's no SAFE alternative. If you do 55 on the highway, you are a HUGE safety hazzard, as everyone's gonna be right up your bumper, trying to get around you, honking at you, and prob. even giving you a lil taste of roadrage. No one does the speedlimit. NO ONE. And ESP. not the cops.

Ah I see now, everybody does it so it is ok?
That's y they are giving so many tickets.
They want ALL of u to slow down.
If everybody is going 72 then u go 65...never get a ticket unless u give em a reason. U wanna wear the biggest rack....you get shot at first.
Pay UP n Learn

P.S> giving money as a fine to the dmv is far better than feeding another f'n lawyer. Lawyers are ruining our world, that's a whole different thread.
Save it for a murder charge not some dinky ticket-u should be able to represent yourself.

Wow...I guess ALL the "experts" are coming outta the woodworks tonight LOL. Did you read what someone else in VA posted?

He's not kidding. We have some of the largest, widest, and best maintained roads in the country, yet have one of the lowest speed limits as well. The bottom line is, it's not "cuz everyone else is doing it;" it's b/c the SAFEST thing (whether it's legal or not) is to maintain the flow of traffic. Go back and talk to your driving instructor, or anyone w/ a good bit of driving experience. They'll tell ya too fast or too slow (not going w/ the flow) is the BIGGEST hazzard. It makes you something ppl start trying to dodge, putting you at risk for getting rear-ended (b/c no one expects you to be going that slow), and increases the risk of others being sideswiped as everyone's scrambling to get around you, while coming up upon you at a high rate of speed...

About going 65, that's not true. Cops here will pull over ANY vehicle that LOOKS fast (I didn't say that IS GOING fast...I said that LOOKS fast). So if you're in a sports car, doing w/ the flow of traffic, or even slower, they'll pull you over first, and ask questions later. I've been there many a time. "Normal" cars are only targeted when they're the obvious offender (like driving alone at night, or flying down the highway on the left lane, MUCH faster than the rest of traffic).

And how you can generalize about all lawyers like that... that's simply not intelligent. Moreover, lawyers here help keep us out of jail and keep our license. The money that goes to the DMV gets refunneled into undercover Mustangs, Camaros, and even helicopters, along w/ new generation radar equipment. Hmm...I wonder who I'd rather help...

I have to agree with Ramy that in VA people drive faster than normal it is crazy. But still the law is the law. Virginia Beach has some of the worse drivers in the world. It was the first place that I heard school buses fall over with kids in it. More than one time too. Tractor trailers going off the bridge tunnel and the crazy *** accidents inside the bridge tunnel where the damn speed limit is 55 and you cant change lanes yet people still do it...idiots man. It doesn't even snow much in Va beach but when it does and its nothing to shut down any place an inch or 2 at most, there are crazy accidents. People there seem to be oblivious to the fact that wet roads are dangerous at high speeds lol.

just think we got about 1 to 2 inches and on one bridge in norfolk they had 60 wrecks in the morining rush hour, on one bridge. either no one knew how to drive or the bridge was way to slick, but 60 is a lot

They actually did a study that was based upon accidents/driving related tickets (speeding, failure to stop, etc) per capita and Arlington/Alexandria has the "worst drivers in the nation" according to them and I believe it.
