Here we go again... If you don't know what you're talking about, PLEASE just keep your trap shut. You have NO IDEA what VA is like, or what the circumstances are around the local speed laws, our cops, or our roads. I, on the other hand, lived in PA for a few YEARS, and I'm VERY familiar w/ how things go there, and it ain't no thang. I got pulled over doin 92 in a 65 and was just a ticket...and that's on the random day you actually see a cop. I can also tell you that PA doesn't even RECOGNIZE 1 - 5 over the limit as speeding. Speeding BEGINS when you're 6 over the limit. So again, don't go mouthin off about somethin you have no knowledge of. It makes you look like an idiot to the MANY who DO know what's going on...

Dave, I am now stickerless... my sponsorship contracts ended already for the 2005 season. No money or parts = no advertisement :-D

Funny thing is... I have only gotten a exhaust ticket for the 7 (straight through with exhaust leak= loud).. this was in my 89whp saturn sohc monster that got the speeding ticket.. so its costly and depressing lol.

I agree with Ramy. Most northern VA cops will pull you over for anything and write you up for everything they possibly can, especially Fairfax county which is probably the most stringent on modified cars. Almost everyone I know that has some sort of modified car has gotten atleast one exhaust ticket and some average one "fix it" ticket a month. When you get out into the sticks its a completly different type of cop. They will sit on these roads and be so bored that they will make stuff up just to pull you over. Anyone who has met me can tell you that I look like the average whitebread clean cut white boy and my drug-dealer'esqe 01 saturn coupe was searched for drugs/weapons because the cop was looking for something else to write me up for. I have lived in SoCal and NoVA and I would take SoCal any day of the week over VA. When I was out there, as long as you met certain guidelines, cops would not mess with you. They would tar, feather, drain your bank account, lock you up and generally make fun of you if you got caught racing but for just driving around they were fine. In VA, if you have a modified car they treat you like you just slaughtered a family, raped 100 people and spat on an old lady.

LISTEN DUMBASS

I live in PA i have for most of my life I was reffereing to VA I lived there for 3 years I know what I am talking about I have had suspensions in both places I have done my share of racing and so on I know exactly how it all works. I have made countless trips back and forth while I was in the Marines. PA gives tickets on the spot you exactly how much you will pay. VA takes you to court and you find out what will happen. Don't assume anything next time.READ BEFORE YOU START TYPING...by the way great job at making an idiot of yourself. Congrats.

We are not speaking about what happens after they pull you over. This is more of why they pull you over and how often they target certain people. Im sure all of us can agree that if a state has something set in stone and you know about it then you know exactly what is going to happen if you get pulled over. Thats fine, I was annoyed that I got an exhaust ticket but I knew what the regulations were prior. Its the mentality of the VA cops that makes it so annoying to live here. Just the idea that going 15 mph over the speed limit (which is going with the flow of traffic on the beltway or 66) is treated the same way as a DUI is absurd and VA (esp NoVA) cops love to bust people for speeding even if its at the same speed as the 500 other cars on the highway.

PA doesn't assign points for under 6 (not under 5) b/c it's not considered a speeding ticket. It's a non-motion violation, and carries a fine, but no points. All speeding tickets carry fines AND points. See http://www.dot10.state.pa.us/pdotfor...ets/pub472.pdf, Vehicle Code 3362, "Exceeding Maximum Speed." It begins from 6 mph. A 5 mph and under citation has a different Vehicle Code. I'd post it for ya here, but it's back at my house (from an 81 in a 55 I pleaded down to 60 in a 55 ). So yea, it's a completely different violation - a non-motion violation and hence a fine but no points.

And I'm the dumbass? LOL.

Bottom line is, you're going around acting all tough, posting "suck it up" and "deal with it" when you don't know what you're talking about. The AVERAGE SPEED on the beltway is 72 mph, while the speed limit is 55 mph. It's SEVERELY underrated for revenue purposes. It's not that ppl CHOOSE to speed; it's that there's no SAFE alternative. If you do 55 on the highway, you are a HUGE safety hazzard, as everyone's gonna be right up your bumper, trying to get around you, honking at you, and prob. even giving you a lil taste of roadrage. No one does the speedlimit. NO ONE. And ESP. not the cops.

So don't come on here talking about how you gotta suck it up cuz we're obviously doing the most reckless thing in the world (like Pat's 9 miles over... oohhh). You did stupid stuff like race. THAT, you suck up and shut up about, because it's DUMB to race on the street, and thus if you get caught, you have nothing to do EXCEPT suck it up. Keeping up w/ the flow of traffic is the most basic rule of safe driving - whether it gets you pulled over or not.

Not to mention, in PA, only State Troopers can use radar guns, b/c they don't want local cops using tickets as a means of generating revenue. Fairfax County raises more than 50% of it's annual revenue from traffic stops. So get off your high horse. If you don't have anything useful to say (and "suck it up" isn't useful to someone who's seeking help), then please, shut your trap.

JEEZ MAN do you not realize the suck it up comment was a general comment at speeding. If you haven't figured that out you truly are stupid. I am not interested in the homework you did to quote law I could care less. I made a general comment on speeding and you had to get all personal about it hehe stupid bro. Also I told you already DON'T ASSUME. I received tickets for speeding NOT RACING...again you seem to make yourself seem the idiot hehe its actually funny. No one does the speed limit however going over it is still speeding if you are going to do it and get caught SUCK IT UP! It's very simple. Again the comment is general and not directed at no one. But hey if you are too stupid to realize that make yourself an idiot the third time hehe.

Get in the slow lane and you will be fine. Because others are doing it does't mean you have to. It may not be fair but it is law and until its changed realize you are speeding and will be subject to tickets like everyone else. Cops have quotas they choose whoever they want man it happens all the time especially when the normal flow of traffic is 72 as you say.

Hmmm...Neal (who's a friend btw) comes on asking for help, and you reply w/ a general, non-specific comment, not pertaining to his post or thread, but IN his thread? Take it to the God damn longue if you wanna post random comments. Stop backtracking cuz you're full of it.

But that's not even the case...you were OBVIOUSLY responding to Neal. Allow me to refresh your memory... He posted:

And your response (which is the VERY next post in the thread, right after Neal's...) was:

Hmm....yep. Sounds pretty generic/non-specific to me...

I am not interested in the homework you did to quote law I could care less.
Good, cuz it wasn't for you. It was in response to Pugg's question, which is why I quoted what he said and responded after that quote. Genius

I made a general comment on speeding and you had to get all personal about it hehe stupid bro. Also I told you already DON'T ASSUME.
No assumtion necessary. Read above again if you had a sudden case of amnesia. Neal mentioned lawyers, you posted immediately after him, MENTIONING THE LAWYER COMMENT, and ending your comment in what? Hmm...lets take a guess. Heck, let's ASSUME. Oh wait, I know what it is..."SUCK IT UP." Wha? Did I make that up? Pull it out of thin air? Man...I must be hallucinating tonight...

No one does the speed limit however going over it is still speeding if you are going to do it and get caught SUCK IT UP! It's very simple.
And this is helpful to Neal how? AGAIN, in case hukt on fonix didnt wurkt 4 u...if you have nothing positive to contribute to his thread, stay off it with your worthless comments. Capeche?

Get in the slow lane and you will be fine.
Average speed in the slow lane is 64 mph, still enough to get you pulled over. Then it's 69 mph. 3rd lane is 74, and 4th lane is 79 mph AVERAGE. Oops...you obviously don't know what you're talking about AGAIN...

Because others are doing it does't mean you have to. It may not be fair but it is law and until its changed realize you are speeding and will be subject to tickets like everyone else.
Wow...I think you just enlightened all of us. Freakin WOW. Thanks for letting us in on this HUGE secret that we were completely oblivious to...

Cops have quotas they choose whoever they want man it happens all the time especially when the normal flow of traffic is 72 as you say.
And your point is?

My point's simple. Don't come trolling on someone else's thread - esp. not a friend's - and start making stupid comments. The guy's in a bind. He's pissed, he got a ticket, and he's asking for advice. If you were dumb enough to say something like "suck it up" in person, within reach, Marine or not, I woulda put ya flat on your back. Don't be stupid man. Be courteous and respectful to ppl, not go rubbing it in w/ your ignorant comments.

Bottom line is this speeding is speeding WTF do you think is going to happen? I am just a no bull **** guy. But karma is karma maybe he just got caught this time for all the other times he did it. Things happen but why do they happen. Friend or not man it is what it is. A real friend would just tell him that. Learn a lesson and next time it wont happen. Hehe. But really the comment was general to all. I guess you caught feelings about it hehe funny.

At any rate speed limits suck listen to them and you will be fine.
But hey don't let me get under your skin so easily hehe.

Ok, lets end the "suck it up" portion of the thread here and now.
you skin your knee you "suck it up"
you drop the ice cream you just bought you "suck it up"
you dont get picked first to play kickball you "suck it up"
in my case where I just have a fine I will "suck it up"

in recon's case where he can face jail time and a suspended licence he DOES NOT "suck it up"
Having that on your record can be very damaging and hinder his possibility of getting a good job later down the road and a suspended licence can cause all types of problems.

From now on "suck it up" is from a forign language on this thread. Its english translation will be "give oral pleasure to men"

So, your former comment:
"when I get caught speeding I 'suck it up' "
will now be:
"when I get caught speeding I give oral pleasure to men"

SO STOP SAYING IT!!!!

WHAT DO YOU WANT SYMPATHY? hehe he will be fine especially with all the mental hugging going on in here LOL

I am done on the subject feel free to post on anything I said. Many of these postings I am sure will prove how much your blood is boiling. But hey it will be ok because you will be able to take out your frustrations in an online bulletin board/forum. Good job. Reading and understanding others is what I do I love it because most of the time people when figured out deny all of it. Why? Because no one likes to be figured out, simple really. I learn from all of the postings made as all of these are clues as to what triggers/makes you respond.

Again bottom line is laws are laws we may not agree with them and want them changed but in the end everyone is subject to them and must obey them. Those who don't will pay, plain and simple. Marijuana is illegal yet people still feel it should be legal and get enraged when they get caught with it hehe it cracks me up. The law is the law know it, obey it and if you don't realize you might get caught. If you get caught then accept it. You knew what you were doing. Or didn't you?

Choices, everyone has them make one and live with the consequences whether they are good or bad. This is the bottom line.

Ramy and I just post because...well, we are post ******... plain and simple.

You claim to have a great "6th sense" about reading people but seem to have a very hard time understanding what they say. There are two issues here.
1.) Recon's case- in which he needs a lawyer even though we have come to the conclusion that he did break the law.
2.) General Behavior of Va Police- with pulling people over who go with the flow of traffic and which goes beyond the word of the law to inforce dead laws. Have you seen some of the crap thats on the books?
Im sure you would be bitching and complaining if a cop decided to pull you over because you didnt "send up a rocket every mile and wait 10 minutes for the road to clear" which is still on the books in PA... so Im sure you break that law every day you drive your car...

A few years ago it was a "major news story" when they "discovered" cops did have quotas. Of course it was not officially called a "quota," but some language that amounted to the same effect. As I recall it was somehow tied to their performance evaluations. I wouln't be surprised if it still happened, especially in backwoods towns.

Im sure it is more previlant in smaller towns. After I got pulled over I saw 2 more people pulled over in the next 10 or so miles.

I know just north of Charlottesville VA there is a stretch where the speed limit goes from 55 to 45 and there is a cop at every crossover during heavy traffic. Im sure they arent worried about safety there as much as bringing in more revenue for their town.

taken from that article:
"Falls Church police union officials said the quota policy discourages patrol officers from such measures as following a weaving, and possibly drunk, driver when they can spot a car with a burned-out headlight. A DWI arrest takes a minimum of four hours to process, but carries no more value at raise -- and promotion -- time than a 10-minute headlight ticket, Rhodes said."

Now I find that completly stupid. Taking the whole speeding and such that we have been talking about, this is crazy. If I lived in falls church I would raise holy hell. I think stopping a DWI is 10x more important than pulling over a hoopty because it has a headlight out. What happens if one of your kids is hit by a drunk driver? Sorry, a broken headlight is more important? sheesh
