Need Help In Va
to start i have a 1990 RX7 GXL fully stock with the exception of RB headers and cat back with a bonez high flow cat. i got pulled the other week for "improper exhaust". i really dont want to have to change my exhaust and i dont know what the state is going to make me do. im not to good with the exact laws on cars around here so if anybody knows anything about what i might be able to do to keep the exhaust any help is appreciated.

all you really need is a cat on it to pass inspection . your mufflers must be like a high flow and you might need to install a silencer somewhere in the system to quiet then down a little. mine doesnt have a cat or silencers but the mufflers make it close to stock quiet so the cops dont mess with me .
if i was you just get a silencer and a high flow cat installed .

i knwo it can pass inspection. but i wonder if i get it reinspected with the exhaust and show it the court they can dismiss the ticket? i talked to my friend and he said try to fight it with the point that my exhaust is not loud and if that was the problem then they should pull over every mustang or loud *** truck. they enjoy the sound of their V8s i enjoy the sound of a rotary.

You are never going to win by how loud it is. What you can win by is what the state laws are. The decibel level is what counts and if you can pass inspection with it. I don't know how you pass inspection with headers but that is besides the point. Go to your county courthouse and ask for a copy of state/county restriction for exhaust noise level. You should be within safe distance of what the law is.
Good luck. If you are over the limit, like the other person said, you might have to put a presilencer in somewhere, you might even have to do two of them.

ive lived here for 12 years and never had this problem... all i can say is try to fight this and SHOW PICS that the car has its required equipment to make it quiet and meets inspection standards. oh btw... i too have a v8 car and also never been pulled for my loud exhaust
good luck in court man i hope your judge isnt a ***....

Tell the judge the parts are as quiet or quiter than OEM and designed for a Mazda. Tell them it has a catalytic converter and passed inspection with flying colors.
Where you at the ocean front when this happened by chance?
You can also just pay the ticket and not worry about it. Stay away from the area where you recived the ticket.

yea thats what i was planning. i just want to pay it and have it all be done with. i just want to know if the court/state are gonna order me to take it off or somethin.
