did that $5k include the parts? motor, trans, rear, etc?

do you have a TII and just need a motor, is it a NA- turbo swap?

I would head to the shops in Jersey or PA. I hear not so good things about some NY shops.

I am trying to help you, but you have not answered the questions.
I am asking if that $5k included the parts, and in those parts if that was the rear end, half shafts, transmission, driveshaft, etc and so forth

if its $5k for a just a used motor and nothing else then yes that is alot of money

It's a lot of work to convert an NA to a TII. I'd imagine any shop would charge $5k, most of it being labor. You need to find an ECU and either modify the stock NA harness to adapt (tedious work) or find a turbo wiring harness and install it along with the new ECU (tedious work).

Then there is all the mechanical components.

Tedious work = time
time = money

Ask yourself if it's worth it to put $5k into a car worth $3k because the car is not going to be worth $8k

N/A - T2 swap is NOT a lot of work IMHO. Give me the proper tools / parts and it could be done under two days easy. (i mean keeping the n/a rear)

Modifying the n/a harness is the better way to go unless going standalone. You only need to mod like 4 wires.

If you gotta bring it to a shop then you might as well sell the n/a rx-7 then buy a real deal T2.

If you can`t do it your self because the lack of knowledge and mechanical skill you are much better off saving and buying a T2. That N/A to turbo swap will cost you just as much a buying a TII. Trust me i have been there...

its getting tough to find clean TII's, so if someone has a clean NA coupe it makes perfect sense to swap it.

^ Agreed, although it's hard to find a local TII motor someone is willing to part with.

I live in Suffolk County and drive all the way to PA to get my car worked on. Dave was a Mazda tech specializing in building motors. He's also reasonably priced.

Enzo in Long Island and IRP in Jersey also have good reputations but i have never used them.
