This isn't for a Rx7 unfortunatly (so many in the junkyards) and don't really want to pay $150 (for the cheapest) at the parts store. Are there any shops that still actually do this old timer work?

there is an alternator place in hickory, MD at the corner of rte 543 fountain green road and Rte.1 Conowingo Road.

I've had 3 alternators rebuilt by them and they do excellent work.

I just went this route. I would advise to get a new one and pay the $150. I had a major voltage issue with my car. It would spike to 16 back down to 12 etc and could not figure out why the car would break up.

I ended up changing a whole mess of things and in the end it turned out to be the alternator. I never datalogged battery voltage and never really looked at it but once I did, I figured out the problem.

I had 2 rebuilt alternators and guess what, the voltage regulator was bad on both of them.

Hmm, I just dropped it off today at the place loudazzRx7 recomended. Here's to hoping it gets done right, I haven't driven the car in almost three months and think I'm about to go nuts... ******* small things.

Well, as it turns out the cost of the rebuild was close to the new unit... so I got a new unit. Thanks for the recomendation though, not a pretty shop but good people for sure.
