Looking for a rotary specialist in NE!
Does anyone know where I can find a rotary specialist in the New England area? I have heard of a guy named Barry down in Massachusetts that is very good, so if anyone knows of him or knows him personally, please get me contact information or I will give my information. I heard he has a 9 second yellow 3rd gen that he races at New England Dragway. I have been working on my 7 all summer and finally got fed up and took it to Mazda. They are now baffled as to what to do since the car is modded.
So, if someone has some knowledge that they can impart on me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Give Jesse Martello a call at (860)978- 2687. He's in Somers, Ct. He did a great job on my car and he really knows it inside and out, whether you're modified or not. He's actually got my car at the moment but I should have it back this weekend.

Well, its quite the long story. I put a Pettit Racing stage 2 ported motor in it this summer. Here are the mods:
-downpipe
-midpipe
-catback
-Pettit intake
-underdrive pulley
-12lb flywheel
I am running stock turbos, injectors, and fuel rail. I have a Pettit ECU. I went to start the car and blew the slave cyclinder out. So I got fed up. I took it to Mazda cause they actually have a rotary tech from back in the day that worked on 7's. He replaced the slave, vaccum lines and the T2 coil. It runs with the Pettit ECU but it is really rich and won't idle. It also coughs above 3000 rpm. So, with the stock ECU, it will idle and run with no smoke. It still chockes above 3000 rpm. I know that I can not run the stock computer with the upgrades but the Pettit does not perfom properly. So, I would assume I need to go with the Apexi Power FC if I can not use the Pettit ECU. Anyway, I do not have enough knowledge to trouble shoot this and get it running properly.

for one you can run the stuff you have off the stock ecu, not advisable for aggresive driving.
and it sounds like your TPS is out of whack. Have you spec'ed it? Try putting a digital multimeter on it (black and green wires (from the back part of the harness)) and test it warm. If the car it comes back about or lower than 1 ohm. then adjust the screw to the left of the tps(turbo 2 only) once that is set. Take the butterfly on the TB and slowly open it. If it overloads or goes above 6 ohms then your tps is shot which could cause hesitations as well as a funky idle.

well, check the tps, i doubt it is that though. and that isnt how it is adjusted on the fd, it is different. there is an archived thread about it. so do you mean that the car seems to like die off above 3000 rpm? it could be limp mode with the stock computer. i have dealt with that on my car and it is no fun at all. pull the CEL code with the sotck computer and get back to us wiht the results.
