What would it have been called when I bought it, since it had no powertrain at all? EX7 for "engineless" ?

i usually stay out of these but i guess this time i will voice my .02. i just dont understand why u would buy an rx and remove the soul of the car. Once u take out the rotary it is no longer a RX-7. u mine as well buy a dodge omni and drop a v8 in it.

You have good reason for "usually staying out of it" matty. You obviously didn't read the whole ******* thread.

It had no motor or transmission when I bought it. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. It also had half the interior missing, several body panels, no headlights and had been on fire, which was caused by the previous idiot owner that thought he knew how cars were supposed to be built.

I don't recall Mazda sending anyone a letter stating when their rotary blows up, they are no longer allowed to call their car an RX7. Or that they need to ship their car off to heaven to have a "new soul" re-installed.

As soon as you can tell me what the part number is for this "soul" you speak of, I'd be glad to take a look at ordering one. Until you can do that, however, you're better off just staying out of my ******* thread, because your two cents is worth about what you paid for it.

I've been watching the last couple threads Joey has made about this that have now been ruined by people trash talking his car with no basis.

It is quite obvious he saved the car from the junkyard, or at best being parted out. That certainly would have ruined the "soul" of the car.

Its faster than most FD's out there, all while being more reliable and getting better gas mileage. If you love the rotary, fantastic, keep it in your car. I will. However if you have ever ridden in a V8 RX-7 there is no denying there is a certain appeal to them, different than a rotary but still an *** load of fun. Different people like different things. I want two RX-7's one a turbocharged 13b, one an LS1.

And finally, IT'S HIS CAR, LET HIM DO WHAT HE WANTS WITH IT. He paid for it, he worked on it, NOT YOU. He is selling it for a good price, why make useless posts ruining that and turning away prospective buyers? Just let him sell his car.

Just look at it this way... if it doesn't sell, I'm going to compete with it. And won't it just suck that a car with no soul is winning against those that do have one?

You have to actually win first. Braggart.
I got no beef with motor swaps but you shouldn't go talking smack until you have actually laid it down.
What's that car putting out anyhow?

I am going to have to agree with Fd3boost on this one, you seem to be talking a lot of ****. I want to see how this thing runs against a single turbo FD, like mine or his.

I have no problem with that, assuming you don't mind waiting until I decide to keep it or it sells. I still have not installed the bushings or aligned it since the steering rack was moved. And I have no intention of exceeding 100mph with a bad alignment. I also need it tuned, since the one not-stock thing in the motor is the cam and it hasn't been touched since the install.

Well it's no secret I'm short a motor right now. But with my last one running a proven 430hp at only 16psi. I am pretty confident to say that it would lay a serious smack down on your current untuned set up.
Get your tune, I'll get my motor, crank up the boost and I'll take that cash. I got no doubts about you being a contender for these twin turbo cars but you might want to think twice before get so boastful around a well set up single turbo fd.

i am sure your car is great. i respect the ls1 or other similar v8. what idiot wouldnt. but that doesnt change my opinion. What makes the rx7 great in my mind is the uniqueness of the car/engine. people just love to spark up a conversation about the engine and other "rotar heads" out there have a sense of brotherhood with one another on the road. You guys changed that. do i think u are an ******* for doing that. no i certainly dont. but in my mind u arent driving a RX anymore. Which probably means nothing.

you are such a brat man. grow up. if u cant see that a rotary engine is what has made the rx7 what it is then your blind. that post reminds me of sioemthing that would go on in a grammar school [pissing contest. You think i care if u smoke a rotary. What difference does that make. If thats where u think i am coming from with than your an idiot as i have clearly posted otherwise.

big fuckign deal. u saved a car from the junk yard. your my hero. i mean u people are making it sound like the guy adopted some orphaned child. who cares where the car came from.

i knew i would get flamed for posting my opinion on the swap. i wasnt attacking anyone. i just stated that taking the rotary out of a rx7 is changing the car completely and ruining whats special about the car. you mine as well never have boguht it. now if u are doing this to compete then thats fine. But know that u are owning the car for a different reason than 99% of the people here. if u have some sort of complex in regards to that than thats your own problem.

matty: for the last time...the car did NOT have an engine in it. he didnt remove anything. you've done nothing but make yourself sound like an ***. he built the car the way he wanted to. just leave him be.
