Hpde?
So I've been wanting to try to hit the track and this is the year! I am in the process of signing up for a track event with Mazda Drivers in April. I was just wondering if there are things I should do in advance to prepare. Here a few things I have so far:
1. Finish my battery relocation (bolt it down to meet tech inspection).
2. Buy a helmet.
3. I read the NASA site and they have a list of things to bring a ong.
Anything else that you guys recommend from your experiences? Just wanted to start thinking about it early. Anyone local particapte in HPDE events? Would love to tag along before April and ride with some of the more advanced drivers. I figure just getting used to the environment and riding with someone better will help me. Just thought I would reach out here first. Thanks.

Don't have any information to help you before you go, but i'd love to attend and get photo's of those attending from the area, since i'm not an owner anymore. Oh, and ride-alongs would be nice too if that's possible for those that don't require an instructor.
I know there was another thread about the event, but do you have more details as to location, etc...or a link you could send me?
On a side note---Have you gotten your car back yet?

Here's the site of the group I'm planning on going with.
http://www.mazdadrivers.com/
And I'm waiting on some ignition coils so my car is still apart...lol. I think it's been down more this year than actually driven. I'm not planning on doing any mods in 07, just want to enjoy the car finally.

I'm planning to come back to VA to participate.
If u have netflix I recommend renting "Skip Barber: Going Faster". It's really old, but the concepts are all there. The book is worth reading too.

For what its worth im actually going to have an event myself in May or August. Check the Events section here in a day or two to get more information.

when i bought my BBK the guy also threw in a set of axxis race pads, so i was planning on running them at the track.
talked to the wife last night and she wants to come too. just one more hobby for us to do together
the plan is to get her hooked so i can justify all the money i spend on the car!

sounds like an insane track machine with those stoptechs and wide ccw's shod with PS cups. got a rollbar and race seats/harness?

i have a couple pics floating around somewhere, but not too many. eventually, i will add a rollbar, race seats/harness. but i want to first get some track time and learn. once my single conversion is done i am planning on taking a TON of pictures so i will post then.

Bring an open mind. Listen to your instructor and remember it is not a race.

I dunno I just looked for the FATT schedule too.
I'm really interested in picking a date and trying to get all the RX-7 owners to try and sign up for that date. Last year I went and it was a blast.
If Mazdadrivers goes to Summit Point I'm game. VIR is way too far for me.
If you haven't done any track time, just sign up and come. FATT is perfect since it's basically all instruction and seat time. You need to have your hands on the wheel to really learn in the beginning. The only mods that matter are the cooling mods and temperature gauges. Definitely get an accurate water temp gauge if you don't already.
