What exactly do you mean by "front plate"? Do you mean the front side housing? or the front cover that has the engine mounts. Do you need to complete an engine? FWIW the side housings from a second gen engine will not interchange with a GSL-SE engine. The o-ring groves are different and will not interechange between them.

On the 20B Cosmo engine that was discussed a few posts ago.. There is a guy in the local club that is putting a 20B in his 3rd gen and putting the 3rd gen engine in a Miata.

I probably have one that I would consider an extra. I think you will need the OMP from the GSLSE as well, but I am not 100% sure of that. What I would consider trqading for is a second gen water pump housing.

I would really like to have that REW for the 1st gen. What a project that would be. Nasty little car in the end tho.

Yeah, he was originally looking for a first gen to put the FD engine into, but came across a Miata first.

I'm hoping to get the rest of the hoses and lines in the current engine disconnected and finally remove the engine. I'm having a damn hard time getting the clutch slave cylinder unbolted. Seems the angle is just enouch that I can't get the socket seated well enough not to slip.....

Yeah, I use on of those sockets with the U-joint built into the socket and about 18" extension to get those. I have found a few places you need those sockets in 10, 12, and 14 to work on these cars. Keep one of each in the tool box and life will be much better.

Of course I have one of each in both 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive for a total of 6 diffferent sockets..... But then I think you can never have enough tools.... Much to my wife's chagrin.

Well I did it. With some help from my father, I finally got the engine out. Silly me, I forgot to take out the shifter first. Doh!!! Replacement engine gets here on Monday. Looks like I'll miss next weeks meet. But if anyone is driving through Hampton next Saturday, feel free to stop by and give me a hand ;-).
