Hampton Roads (SE Virginia) Rotary Club
I have got to get back to checking here more often. If there was a get together this weekend, I missed it.
Otherwise, Who is game for hooking up at the Hooter on Military Highway Tuesday night. Say about 8PM? Anyone?

Man, the turnout last night was overwhelming!
Well, Knotso and I waited until 8:30, then we jetted. Hooters was much too crowded, esp for a Tuesday!
Chilis on VaBch Blvd was a much better choice.
Good meeting you, Carl. Maybe we can convince someone else to show up next time.

There is also an autocros Dec 14th that is also open to all cars at the Pungo Fairgrounds. If you are interested in actually competing in the event you can go here and register:

Let me know if you guys want to try to go and spectate or run at either of these events. I may be taking my daughters first gen, or trying to beg a ride from someone else.

a think a day off of work is in order for me.
Why do all the events here coincide with my planned trips to Charleston...
Ah well, I MAY be able to make the autox on the 21st. But I'll be bringing the pain in my GVR4. Guess I had better crank up the rear shocks and hope for the best, since I have the wimpy stock rear bar and the 4WS is still operational.

Anyone interested in the autocrosses, the event on the 14 is at Pungo. All you have to do to watch is show up (spectating is free). The event at Fentress on the 21st is also free to watch, but you have to put your name on the "accesss list" by Wedenesday of the previous week. They submit this list to the Navy and only those people are allowed in.
To compete in the autocross, all you need is a car in good condition that does not have cord showing in the tires, or anything serious wrong with the suspension, etc. They have loaner helmets you can use if you don't have one. If you get your own you need with with Snell Approval (The cheap Wal-Mart helmets will probably not be Snell Approved).

The local SCCA events are pretty much done for the year. This is the web site for the local SCCA region. Greg Smith is the person who does everything for the Old Dominion Reigion of SCCA. His contacts are on the site:

The other local autocross club that puts on local event is the Tidewater Sports Car Club. Many of the same people who are SCCA members are also TSCC members. Their web site is:

One other club is putting on autocrosses over the winter and that is Beachcombers Corvette Club. The events are open to all cars and their web site is:

All are pretty good people. I would like to see enough RX7 people to get a club going enough to have interest in puttin on an event sometime.

Not that I wouldn't like to see it happen, but from what I have personally observed from different regions of the East Coast, 7 owners can barely make meetings, let alone put together successful events. Track days?
We're not in FL or CA, you know

I second that !
We local Rotorheads SUCK when it comes to organization. Pathetic really when you consider the enthusiasm that local ricers demonstrate.
Maybe it's an age/maturity thing?

Oh, I understand that fully. I know the NC Mazda guys are fairly active, but they are a mix of the rotary guys and the Miata/Protege guys. They don't put on events, but go to lots of other clubs events. The Washington DC club is the same way, and Mazda club as opposed to a rotary club. They do put on autocrosses and HPDE events.
