Well, all the little ricer boyz think it's fast and high dollar, so **** it, might as well roll with it, right?

And it's pretty quick man.

You find out anything on the 13psi boost spikes?

And Ren, I called it before you, so I'm next in line after his son :P

True, true

true

Yup, it seems to be pretty common with FD's that have a aftermarket downpipe and catback. Everyone just recommends putting on a boost controller. Glad I bought a cheap one a few weeks ago. I'll probably put it within the next week.

Remember, I'm getting ready to have another son.......

hay bryan

i just installed a distributor cap and rotor and they only go one way tried tostart it up again and its wanting to fire up but it sounds a little off so i messed with the timing and that didnt change anything......the carb seems to be working correctly so i dont think that is doing the prob ...any ideas?my next guess is the bad gas or bad oil? could cause bad oil presure and or bad gas to cause low burnabilty..bad burn off. i put fuel treatment in the gas tank to make it a little better but i think ill force feed some marvel mystery oil into the spark plug holes and see if that will make it run.....want to come down here and doctor it lol cause im not too sure of myself with the car .

Hey Monty,

I've got a shitload of stuff I need to do today, so I won't be able to make it there. Try pouring some oil down the carb. Also check that the L1, T1, L2, T2 is actually hooked up in the right spot. Also check that the rear coil is hooked up to the Leading posistion on the cap, and the front coil is hooked up to the trailing.

It should start. Just put the distributor back where it was, we know it was running fine where it was.

Did you get the flooding thing figured out?

yeah the flooding was cause the floats where not filled all the way so it filled them now it dont do it anymore .when i put on that new fuel filter there was a losse of fuel that went to the carb and basicly the carb had no fuel for a while after that it was fine when it filled itself again.

the battery is low on juice so im going to get it recharged.that might be the reason it didnt want to kick over ,lack of juice from the battery

ok i put the new cap and rotor and now it seems the fb doesnt want to work it will start but not quite kick over it seems timing,to much fuel or to little fuell and i dont know how to adjust that kind of thing on the carb?????

good news about my fc SHE RUNS!!! it was a very small vac leak and the TPS was set really low and it wanted to die so i pushed up the idel and have the leak fixed and now she idels at a steady 1000 rpms sounds really good im happy with it ideling at 1000 i might make it idel lower when i work out all the bugs out..if i only had a drive shaft i could drive her around the block a little lol

Ren,

Are you going carb or FI on the V8 car? If carb, just get a Holley Blue fuel pump. I suppose you mean the pickup/sending unit assembly that goes inside the tank? I'm sure someone around here has to have one of those.

Ok I'm gonna try casting the net locally for some answers:

Well we have a new FD owner in the area. His name is Tim. A Marine stationed in Norfolk. Tim and I met through Calvin and he asked me to have a look at his FD. Gorgeous lookin' car. 99 spec all around. However his car does have a few issues. Tim just bought his FD and it was in storage for several months. I don't know if the previous owner prepped the car correctly for storage. The car idles fine but the engine surges a bit. At idle, the exhaust smells fine, rich, but fine. When he drives his car, the exhaust is very slightly smokey blue, she's burning oil, you can smell it. If he hits the throttle hard while in neutral, as soon as he lets go, there's a big puff of white smoke that comes out from behind the UIM. The smoke doesn't smell like fuel, coolant or oil. WTF?? So I'm wondering, burning oil: bad turbos, or bad oil seal? For the smoke by the UIM: exhaust leak, or maybe coolant from the throttle body?

Here's the thread I wrote about it.

Beyond what's in the posted thread, can anyone give us any suggestions on what to look for and test. Hey Brian, wanna take a ride in the FD and have a look at his car?
