I'm on the island too and i was looking for shops also. From what i know T&R/ Tri-State auto in queens is good And there is a guy in Elmont Smokin Joe

 

I can't tell you what a "good" bodyshop is, BUT I can tell you that the best and most professional bodyshop in the NYC/Long Island area in my opinion would be Gibraltar Collision, 138 Jericho Tpke, Floral Park, NY 11001. The owner of the place is very **** about his work and takes a lot of pride in what comes out of his bodyshop. It's not for the squeamish when it comes to prices. Yes, they do the best work and yes, you'll get the best service BUT you'll be charged for it. Whether your car is worth it and you can afford it, it's up to you to decide. Like I said if price is a concern don't bother. If it's going through insurance and you want the best work/service then by all means take it there.

you're right rob, smokin joe does not do bodywork. tri-state does though.

and i cant agree more with rx794, gibralter is the best place i've seen in the nyc/li area and i inspect bodyshop's work for a living!
