Engine rebuild estimate near Weirton WV

Hello all. Might buy another 3rd gen RX-7 with a bad motor.

Where could I get a rebuild estimate near Weirton WV? I am only seeing Emage Performance in Washington PA. The seller lives in Weirton WV. I'm in Burgettstown PA. My old shop was PFS Supercars in Frederick MD, but I think Ray Wilson does no longer do RX-7 work.

To what degree can the damage be assessed with the motor in the car? Owner says 2k, but I'm reading online and many are saying it could be up to 6k.

Thanks

Without a teardown and full inspection of the motor it's incredibly difficult, bordering on impossible, to give an accurate rebuild estimate. If EVERYTHING is reuseable it can be done at the lower end of your spectrum, but if stuff needs replacing or refurbishing then you can expect the price to climb...

If you are not confident following the FSM to do a rebuild yourself then I'd get comfy with the idea of shipping your motor out for a rebuild.

If you are just replacing seals, you may get away for 2k. If you need new rotors, housings, or irons - the price goes up

Believe IRP is selling remans for around 5

They're all new shortblocks. $4,500 plus a $1,000 core.

Mazda is making NEW shortblocks again?

I was under the impression that Malloy sold the last "new" engine back in 2012 (to me ).

Get in touch with Ihor over at IRPerformance. Shop email address is IRPerformance@live.com

with many of the old rotary shops in the northeast closing down or changing ownership, the parking area at IRP has gotten a LOT more crowded lately
