Arrow Deals Gap Rotary Rally April 16-19 2009 NJ Caravan!

Just got off the phone with Mr. G Monsen and his N/A three rotor beast is making the trip down. I'm bringing my FD as well, and I know many many people in the NE have expressed interest. Gio/amp, Dan/Scrub, Don Francis/DJF(NJ), Marc/2rotor, etc etc.

How about it guys? We'll cruise down nice and easy on thursday the 16th, stay at a hotel, then roll into Bryson City NC on friday the 17th in time for the festivities. The last two events have been amazing, definitely the highlight of my year

Rotary engined motorcycle, three rotor FDs, Cosmo's, you name it, this year should be amazing!!

If you do it in 2 days it's not bad at all. The bigger the caravan the better, I definitely want a nice leisurely cruise down there and back, with minimal crazy driving. The fun driving happens on the Dragon

I can NOT get a speeding ticket this year......last two years I got snagged, once 75 mph in a 65 on the highway and once 55 in a 45. Crazy thing was I going the flow of traffic, why are they pickin' on me? 500+ horsepower and I'm going double digit speeds, why are the cops complaining ?

Y a small group bigger groups are more fun. But only when all the drivers in the group are responsible. but is that ever the case? sometime i guess...

Spoke to Scrub, his silver FD is going through some serious body mods, but he should be able to make it

im intrested in going and doing the caravan thing as long as its the 'mature' crowd. i don't need a speeding ticket, but more importantly i don't want some wanna be driver smacking my car into a guardrail as he tumbles down the highway because he's driving beyond his limits.

my other big concern is car safety. my FD has never spent a night outside of a heated garage since i've owned it. i don't know if i'd be able to sleep with my car in some random hotel parking lot, especially being so far from home. no one is concerned about having thier car stolen or damaged?

mabye its the new york in me, but when i think hundreds or rotorheads in one town, i'm thinking at least a dozen or 2 ppl will be there 'car shopping'...

i love rotary meets and this looks like THE BEST meet i have ever been to, but i'm having a hard time convincing myself that my investment will be safe...

rich, others, how has the parking, car safety thing been at previous events?

i can assure you our crowd will for the most part be mature.....im bringing my wife and a few others are bringing so's.....as for safety of your car you know this aint a civic meet...i know for a fact if i saw some one doing something stupid to some one elses car i would get ugly on them......our bond is usually different than other car groups......this is also gonna be the first time my car slept outside!

ive got the same concern roan...
only time any of the fds have spent outside of a garage overnight was when purchased..
drove one from cali to jersey.. concerned enough that i slept in the fd instead of stayin at a hotel... couldnt find any in ground level next to the parking spot..
wonderin if there are any nearby campsites.. which im thinkin about it could make for an interesting rotary gathering...

I was actually thinking about this just today. I'm on the other side of the city from most of you guys and looking at a good 13-14 hour drive, or so I believe. I would really like to break it up into two days. Leave thrusday night ~ 6 as the traffic is starting to get light, stop around 12-1 in or around MD, get back on the road ~10 the next morning and get into Nantahala village ~grub time.

I definately have to work that day, so it's not a question for me.

The only way to steal my car is with a flatbed, damage though is another thing. I think if we were to find a nice little small town somewhere in MD and a decent hotel, things should be OK. I also plan to keep my car under locked cover.

I'm definately interested in some sort of caravan though. Two days would be best.

What about going back though? That I'm thinking about hitting strait.

Gio and Roen, I've never had any problems whatsoever with parking my FD out overnight, and mine is as nice and has as much cash into it as most others on this forum. That's what my three alarms are for

At the event, you should have zero concern, the crowd is a pretty mature and upstanding group. There's never been an issue and I certainly don't anticipate one.

Just spoke to Ray Crowe today and he was on the fence. He was no match for my superior sales skills and I convinced him to go to this year's event
