DC Emissions Testing
I just moved up to dc and am now thinking about letting the rx (83 GSL) move with me. Problem is, I live in the district, so Emission Testing is inevitable. I have no rats nest, smog pump, cat, or anything. Whats the most stripped down anyone has gotten through the test? Putting a rats nest back on is not an option for me. sooooo any knowledge would be appreciated.

do u have a carb? No cat with a carb u will fail . You should go to kelly muffler on bladensburg rd and get a cat added. They can do any exhaust u want btw.
(give u a flanged cat so u can put a 'test' pipe in and only run the cat for emissions)
I had a 79 Gs that passed np with a cat and the carb tuned very lean.
when i took the cat off I had a Racing beat header, and a magnaflow muffler on the back. My eyes watered behind that car. Putting the CAt on there (nice 3 inch cat) necked back down to a 2.5 into the magnaflow worked nice, sounded nice and passed inspection (too bad the car rusted apart

go to safeway and get some denatured alcohol.
wargasm had a write up on it i think, even though its pretty simple. his FD passed fine in DC.
im not sure if they do visual inspections anymore, but i think if you hand the guy the write amount of papers at the ardwick ardmore station youll pass

just checked nuvolari, must be inspected at the city inspection site... so no friendly gift or grease will be taken. its the pits. Think, I'm gonna have to spend some serious money to get things in somewhat working order. Just wish I had some way to know the emission levels before hand.
