Yup on the actuator, I did my install many years ago myself and it's awesome. No more key use except for ignition and having an actual alarm is great, know a ahop that does both alarm and sister shop does tint and wrap as well as detail. Paint wise there is one called Artisan in Manassas, great work, good pricing! Cash saves you some money as well.

Guys....I know that FD transmissions aren't anything special. I need a 5th syncro repair/replacement and just need a good recommendation for a quality/dependable shop that may have worked with these cars before and won't joy ride the **** out of mine. Also, would be nice if it is close to the Gainesville/Haymarket area since getting into 5th is painful and frankly destructive.....makes me cringe if I even try it.

Good to hear from you Scott but sorry to hear you are having issues, unfortunately I've lost touch with who are the local shops but about 15 years ago I had some work done at RPPerformance out at Summit Point. They know the cars well and apart from having to wait a bit longer than promised to get my car finished I have no complaints. I dunno if they are still around but if so you can at least call them for a quote.

IIRC they do mostly spec miata work for race cars now but may still entertain a transmission rebuild.

I ended up taking mine to a guy in VA beach after getting quotes that were very high up here or being ghosted. With that said, D&V autobody does nice work but they aren't on the cheaper end of the spectrum.

Hey, everyone!!

Just wanted to let y'all know I'm back in the DMV area for 3 more years. I still haven't touched the car yet but I should be able to finish organizing my household goods soon. Hopefully, I can see some of you again and hang out in some events! 🫡

Welcome back, we haven't met up in a while but maybe we'll get enough motivation to now that the weather is getting nicer. Anyone have any ideas?

No longer have the car, and though I dream of getting another, it’s time to let these go.

PM me if you want them!

Is there a FB group? I’m preparing to move to the area in the next few months, although I haven’t decided if my FD or R3 will accompany me. PFA

Love it.

To answer your group question - kinda. Chris R. (CripsyRx7) and some other older guys have a tight knit DC group comprised of mostly long time owners, you'd fall into that category so feel free to PM me and I can see about adding you. Where are you thinking you'll end up around here?

Dang, how'd I miss all this thread action since I was here last? Nice to read from some familiar "voices" I haven't heard from in a while. I guess I need to turn on my notifications.

That is one nice looking white FD there!

Y'all touched upon everything I need for my FD. Vlad, I'm down for keyless entry for $250 as my passenger door just stopped engaging and the driver's side is getting sketchy too. I purchased the key flap hinges from Code Red Performance but haven't installed them yet. I also still need LED headlights. And removing all the acorn dings and new paint is on the agenda. And yes, I also need a new transmission as 5th and Reverse are barely hanging on. A lot to get done for this 32 year old car!

Anyone up for a meet on one of the next few Sundays before Thanksgiving? The week before Thanksgiving maybe, the 23rd? If not a full drive to Shenandoah, just meeting out at IHOP and/or a brewery would be cool. Would love to take a look at Ian's LED set-up and Vlad's keyless entry.

Hey man, I'm always down to meet up, but my car is hidden under too many things, so can't show you my alarm, but can bring or install the setup as I've been so busy working on other people's cars 😅 and neglecting mine!

We should have a 'install keyless entry' day for everyone who wants to do it :P

I haven't gotten around to getting my car painted yet. My daily driver got hit in a parking lot and has been at the body shop for a month now. Weather has been nice this week so I've driven the FD a bunch though, so that's something!

Totally down, sign me up for "install keyless entry" 7's day! Just let me know when and where, Vlad. Happy to send funds to hold my place too.

I've tucked in the 7s for the winter but would be down to show up to a meeting to have food and talk cars. Is there a cars and coffee somewhere that would be good?

Rocky! Good to hear from you. Looks like Dulles Landing is still a thing, but 7 to 9 am is difficult. I can be talked into it though. We can also meet at a number of breweries out west. I just went to 2 Silos for the first time and that place is nuts.

Would Sunday the 23rd work?

So we gonna do this keyless install day or what? Vlad, do you happen to have a rotary compression tester or know a shop in the area that does? Nothing wrong with my car, just thinking I might put it up for sale and want to provide that info to interested parties.

If anyone in the area is looking for a starting point for an autox or track day car with basic mods that's a strong runner but not too great in the looks department, feel free to reach out!

I have a tester at my house right now, Matt. It's on loan from someone else but if you want to test your car you can borrow it and bring it back in the same week, or bring the car by sometime.

Drive it down to DGRR and back this year for one last hurrah. @fendamonky still waiting on you too :P

Bro I wish! My car is still disassembled and in the trailer I towed it home in after the shop closed down.

I need to get it unloaded and organized before I can even begin to think about finishing it. Unfortunately, I think it'll be several years before it's ready to start up.

Thanks! Looks like about an hour from here. I'll keep that in mind if I haven't got things sorted by July.

Hey, perfect timing :P Appreciate the offer Ian - I'm down for either option depending on your schedule and distance. Can you DM me your location and we can figure out a time that works? Thanks!

Definitely! I just went shooting with the guy who has the pole barn I'm hoping to put the car in. I need to ask about space availability.
