Sunday 5/8 Channel 4 11PM News - - weather forecast for Sunday 5/15 = it is the ONLY day in the next 7 days that WILL HAVE NO CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION ! ! And DC area to have a high of 67 degrees ! ! So it's a go ! !

I'll be starting from the Alexandria area. I typically leave around 8 so I can grab food at IHOP before the cruise.
I'll be going to Gainesville from Laurel, but need to pick up my wingman in Gaithersburg - so Rt.200, 270, 495 & 66.
Not sure I'll be able to grab the FD from storage by Sunday but I'm still hoping to make it out for the company and drive. Just picked up a new Mazda3s GT....which has been a lot of fun to drive (and just be in - with all the new tech). Night and day difference from the harshness of the FD. Mazda do make the best cars, that no one hardly buys.
Nice! We picked up a '15 Mazda3 i-Sport for Elaine a while back. It's just the base model but it's a night and day difference from cars from even 10 years ago and is great to drive. Might have something to do with the fact that it weights the same as an FD?
Looking forward to Sunday. Everyone please remember to show up around 9 if you want to eat and make sure to fill up before you arrive. Coordinating a caravan of cars is tricky with all the lights in that part of town!

Saw a nice looking white FC today driving north on Van Dorn St. Hopefully it was one of you guys shaking the cobwebs off for the cruise.
If you time it to cross the bridge at 8am, you should be able to catch me up. I'll be driving 495 in the slow lane since my car is now a bit loud (in more ways then one). Trust me, you'll see the car.

See everyone around nine. Might have some non rotary guys from work show up for the cruise part.
Yea I might have 1-2 buddies as well that are rotary advocates... and it's a Sunday cruise so yea.

Feel free to hang on to it if you think you'll need it again.Originally Posted by He's On Toroids

I'm coming in my Miata. I just put the Star Spec's on today, topped up the tank, and gave it a (drive through) wash..Originally Posted by Houstonderk

I'll be happy to meet you at Andrews if you want. I heard Adam blew motor in his RX-8, did you talk to him about coming as a ride-along?
If you want coffee before the drive, there is also an excellent little coffee shop that roasts their own beans (I had their stuff shipped to me in Afghanistan, it's that good imo) in Old Town, Alexandria, that we could hit on the way..

Jack - So you're def going to make it? I've still got that "Disgruntled Veteran" hat in one of my closets... I'll see if I can't find it and bring it along for ya! Originally Posted by jl1rx7

Hit up Adam to see if he wants to ride shotgun (I'll kick him a text as well) and play photog... I also think that Jack's girlfriend has taken pictures in the past (correct me if I'm wrong bud..)Originally Posted by Houstonderk
Anyone have someone riding with them for pictures/videos?
Thompson is working, but yea he has like 2 blown rx8's at his house.. ~__~ I dont' care for coffee, but will be trying to be crossing the bridge around 0800. Still waiting to see what my buddy mike does as he was stuck between driving his car or riding and doing photos/videos.
Levi, etc. - my Monday weather forecast did evolve from DC area high of 67 down to 59, but no precipitation and a bunch of sun still goes. My Gaithersburg-located wingman had to bow out because of work call up, so have a seat in my fc. If on my own, from Laurel I'd be doing Rt.95, 495 outer loop to 66. Bill

Ah, gotcha. Ok, no worries on the coffee than (I'll be bringing my own from home). I'm coming from up near Ft. Meade, so crossing the bridge pre-0800 is less than desirable for me Originally Posted by Houstonderk

Looks like I'll most likely just meet you guys there around 9-9:30.
Yeah, I feel pretty bad about the two blown engines... I wish I could help with the rebuild(s) but my stand is currently holding my own engine, and I've just got too much **** going on in my own life to buzz down

The weather tomorrow should be fine. The worst I can imagine is that there may be some patches of wet leaves on the road from the storm tonight. The roads may still be a bit moist in the shadows as well.
As for temperature and active precipitation... I don't really think there will be much to worry about. If my bike weren't still in the shop for some warranty work I'd probably be taking that.
Finally grabbed the FD from storage and made the hour drive up 95 from Spotsylvania last night. Quite exhilarating after six months of not driving it. I was actually thinking to myself why not just sell the damn thing while driving around the new ride for the last two weeks. I barely put 500 miles on it a year. But then a few sprints on the open road, and I'm back! So much fun to drive. But also potentially dangerous with my impatience for slow drivers and trucks on the freeways. Four vehicles across four lanes doing the same speed....really?
Think I'll put in 100 miles on it tomorrow and leave the new car at home.
