DC Area Fall Road-Trip 2015
 

Fall has crept up on us again and before we put the cars away for the winter lets do one last cruise. I was thinking the same route as before, but I have heard that they upped the price for admission into the park so I am open to other ideas as well. If you have any routes in mind, put together a map so we all can see the route and make a decision.

Here's the current planned route: (MAP) The trip is out to the Shenandoah, a cruise along Skyline Drive, then back to Old Bust Head.

As per our usual, we will be starting the trip at a breakfast establishment for everyone who is interested to get some grub. This gives us the opportunity to show up at more flexible times. If you want to eat, make sure you are there with enough time to get your bill taken care of before we leave the parking lot. Departure time will be 10am, even if you aren't there for food make sure you are there EARLY. We'll be standing around chatting anyway and if you are late you run the risk of us leaving without you. Then you will have no other choice but to try and catch us up after we've already woken up all the law enforcement with our loud exhausts.

Remember: These meets are more about the people then the cars. Having your car be down for service is part of owning an Rx-7. Feel free to show to the meeting spot and grab a ride along with someone else, or if you want to drive along with us in something else that is cool too.

Once you decide that you are in, vote for the date you are interested in. Also, list your screen name and real name below, along with what day you are interested in, so I can have a running tally of who is showing up.

I think I'm going out of town the first weekend, but I'm down for the 17th/18th!!

I'll be in the Miata if the wife wants to come, if she bails then I may bring the Aprilia for some two-wheeled fun ^_^

I'm in the same boat as you, Elio. It may seem like I've dropped off the face of the earth but I'm still around. Good news is that I actually started working on my FC in September. The bad news is that It was at the beginning of the month and I haven't touched it since. I'm going to try to see Ray this week to pick up some gaskets I need and MAYBE I'll finish it up this winter.
More bad news, the FD I bought is a paperweight and has been in the same spot since I bought it. I nee the FC running so I can push the FD into the garage and start troubleshooting the no spark issue.

So what's the plan? With it being a week and a half away and all....I even dusted off the rx7 today to shake the bugs out haha.

It is looking like 18th is going to be the day. We'll be leaving IHOP parking lot at 10am. Cross your fingers for good weather.

Sounds good Rocky. I'll def be in the Miata... I've been commuting on the bike a lot lately and I've noticed that the tires are wearing past the tread... Not trying to push my luck going up the mountain! :rofl:

Edit: I may potentially meet you all somewhere on the route....unless I'm feeling good and wannt drive the 2 hours to Gainesville just to drive to near where I started from haha

Also, I *may* have a buddy and his gf join us if that's cool. He hasn't got a rotary (he has a BRZ) but he's well mannered and damn fun.

I told a few guys from sterling about the cruise, I don't know if they decided to go or not...I also have no heat or ac so I agree and hope the weather is nice haha.

We usually park together out back for pics. Remember, departure is at 10am so get there early 9:30~9:45, otherwise you might miss us and have to catch us up.

I use to work in sterling and lived in Manassas....I live in luray now.

of course my ignition is acting up :/ will drive fine and get me to my destination but then after i shut the car off it will not have spark when i try to fire it up again. sigh,,, lets see if i can get it sorted before sunday
might just bring the gf's 8 :/

I'm not going to bring my 7. Once she warms up it takes about 45+ seconds to start again due to constant flooding. I'll be coming with my friend in his e36.

I'm not sure how they managed it, but some people voted for multiple days. :dunno: Which would account for the greater number of votes, then people speaking up.

I always allow for voting for multiple days, this lets you vote for all of the days you will be available to go. That way I can just choose the day with the (hopefully) the max attendance.

(It says in the description of the vote that you can vote for multiple)

A bit late to this party this year. I'll come out to join you for breakfast Rocky but not sure I can venture out to Shenandoah.

Sounds good, I plan to be there for food at around 8:45.

I'm going to try and make it for breakfast tomorrow as well. I've got to get back and work on the FD to get ready for the track next weekend and deal with Elaine's car that threw the timing belt on Wednesday.

bummed I couldn't make it out. but I did get fastest car of the day at SCCA autocross out of 200+ cars, so I would probably make the same decision again :)
