NJ Anyone want two cats?

I've posted on petfinder and craigslist, but I figured RX7 club can help me too .

I've had enough with my dog constantly torturing my cats. I don't have time or patience for it anymore, so these guys are officially up for adoption. I have owned them for 12 years and they are in great health, and have a lot of life left in them. They act like they are 5. They are great with kids, other cats, and dogs (that like cats). I'd like to keep them together since they have been together their whole life. They used to go outside all the time, but I have kept them indooors for the last year or so. They are fine either way. Please PM me with any questions. I'm located in southern NJ, a half hour from Philadelphia.

Thanks

No offense but I don't think anyone who want aged cats or aged animals in general. Its just depressing to fall in love with an animal that will soon pass. Maybe the reason why you wanna get rid of them?

This is to no offense. I know what it's like to lose 3 dogs. Its really sad. All dogs lasting over 10 years and watching them live their last months to their last weeks to their last days was hard. Even to This day I cry sometimes.

My aunt has tried to give her her 12 year old dog to us because she said she doesn't want to watch him start to die.

That's the reason why I brought it up. I thought it was selfish of her though.

I have had many cats and my family has too. At 12 they could easily live 5 more years if they are indoors. You should try some strategies to get the dog situation worked out. For example take one small bedroom or one level of your house and put up a baby gate to keep the dog out but let the cats pass over or under it. It may give them some dog free space when they want it. It sounds like the dog is the problem, not the cats....

I think you will regret giving up your cats.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm only letting them go to a good home, they are staying with me if I can't find one. I know I can make it work, ive been doing it for five years now , but if there's a good home out there I know they will adjust quickly and we can all be at peace .

Haha, I've come to find that people are pretty opinionated when it comes to cats. I think if this was a dog ad people wouldn't flinch. You should see the emails I get from my Craigslist ad from cat people...

I've dropped the cats off at a friends house and my mother in laws house before when I was on travel for more than a week. They were settled and happy within a couple of days. Like I said, they aren't going anywhere bad... a good home is a good home regardless if it's my home . They also aren't getting separated or going to a shelter or anything like that. And frankly, since there has been zero interest, they probably aren't going anywhere...

I really dont care for cats, but you choose to have pets and its a commitment. You have them 12 years that's a long time to just get rid of them.

its easier to train the dog, cats you cant train like that. Try to train the dog and everything will be better.

When my wife ( then my GF ) moved in with me she left her cat at her parents house, where she also lived. The cat missed her terribly, my wife said that the cat was just about to die ( thing was like 19 at this time ) and asked if the cat could come live with us his last few days. We were not allowed to have pets in that apartment we rented but I figured a few days or weeks wouldn't bother anyone. Wouldn't you know it that cat which I thought was going to die any day lived another 5 years after that? He missed my wife THAT much that he had lost weight and became depressed.

I hear you man, thanks for the input. I am committed to them, I'm committed to finding them a good home and if I cant I'll keep them. It's really that simple. If I wasn't committed to them I would just drop them off at a shelter. Like I said, my cats have stayed at other homes before and adapted very quickly. I'm sure some cats do not do so well like your wife's old cat.
