I think considering the DC market, these guys must have a good handle on what they can move cars for. Not all car buyers in DC are rx7club lowballers. I wouldn't pay that much to be sure, but there is a lot of very wealthy people in the area that would not have a problem dropping 30k on a car if they wanted. I would guess that those cars will end up going to some 16 year old punk in Potomac...

That '95 silver R2 is looking really sweet... but not at $30K+. According to Kelly blue book, it's worth just under $22K for "outstanding" condition at 19K miles. Edmunds sets the value at like $15K, so YMMV.

In this case, it could well be the last unmolested low mileage SSM R2 FD in existence, but how many buyers do you think are out there with the cash in hand who are willing to pay a steep premium for that rarity? I'm talking regular buyers, not the rotary obsessed nuts who frequent these forums. For that kind of coin, there are many other sports car choices out there that are as much of a blast to drive as an FD, but without the perceived reliability issues that have dogged FD sales from the get go.
Should be happy there are clean examples out there like these that set the bar and raise values. Better then the pieces of **** that get sold for $11k on their 3rdpoorly running engine missing half the interior rattling over every bump.

^I spoke with someone who looked at that car in person and he said the interior wasn't as nice as expected..... given the price he didn't seem too crazy about the car after looking it over thoroughly.

I just bought a less than year old car with 7500 miles this winter ( replaced my last car which was same circumstance actually ) and when I really started to look at it was shocked at its condition- a day or two of cleaning and detailing and it looks brand new again.
I bet if they sent both those cars to a good detailer they would present themselves much better, even though I personally like seeing my used cars in their "raw" form not covered under gallons of silicone spray and fresh undercoating when you are trying to get big money you need to present the cars where the potential buyer is literally afraid to touch anything because the car is THAT clean.

I agree with Rob, it's amazing how much a car can clean up. Considering the mileage I have a hard time believing that the interior could be in that bad of shape. Who did you talk to that looked at the cars Rich? I should go see these cars for myself and get better pics. I have a light schedule today...
they will appeal to a certain buyer, literally only one or two people who can appreciate it and know the value of a original low mileage car who also happen to have the cash.
KBB doesn't take supply and demand into account only a level of depreciation and when it levels off. I have seen low mileage examples, 6K Miles, for almost $27k. Kbb is at $19k. I bought mine for $25k and it's a 93 brilliant black with 13k miles. I have been offered more than that because there are fewer and fewer low mileage examples in very good condition. See the pics in my album. As for the silver r, as we all know asking is not the sale price. I bet a $26k - $28.5k price will be paid, closer to the higher amount given the touring that recently sold.
Here is the Touring that sold in 3,days for asking price:

Last thing, the reason why Kbb averages don't work is because there are so many of these cars that sell fir so little because of many factors like mileage, condition, how much they have been bastardized that it's not an rd7 anymore just a shell of one. These sales skew the average downward so much that it doesn't represent the primo examples at all.

Very cool seeing all there in a serious dealership like that though.
