2006 Carlisle Import-Kit/replicar Show

Greetings:

This year we at YAMS (York Area Mazda Society) are trying to have an attendance of 25+ members to get the use of a "free" tent at the 2006 Cars at Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals, May 19-21 In Carlisle Pa. And not only that, we're looking for a strong Mazda attendance this year. Last year went well for our first outing as a club, but this year we're asking for everyone's help. So, if you're planning on registering for the event, please do so under the YAMS banner (on the registration form, there's a section for club affiliation, just put York Area Mazda Society. Registration is $15 including weekend admission for two people. We won't assume any ownership of you or anything crazy, we're just trying to keep all the mazda's together at the event, and that's how we'll get the tent. So come on out for a day or three, meet some new people and share stories and race us on the little autocross course. For more info, you can go to www.carsatcarlisle.com or visit www.yamscarclub.com for more club info.

The Club Challenge is a competition to see which club has the most Show Field registrations on Saturday. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies are handed out in three classes: Fiero, Kit and Import. It seems like in the Import category the “Saabs at Carlisle club” has won this trophy every year. They had 137 cars in 2005. Even the “Volvo Club of America” had 49 registrations. With the number of mazda’s on the road and in garages on the east coast, there is no way we couldn’t get together more than these clubs.

April 20th is the deadline to register for the tent, and make sure you put our club name, York Area Mazda Society (not YAMS) on the registration form.

Thanks
Hope some of you can make it.

How many people are going/signed up? I was planning on taking my GSL-SE this year, last year i went to the sport compact show at state college and it was a disaster and i won't ever go back to that show again.
Thanks,
Bryan

Thanks for the reply!
Elizabethown, PA. Your not too far from us.

It's still early for registration and I haven't checked with the YAMS president (TJ) to see how many people have signed up, actually I haven't registered yet myself, but I definately will. If you have never been to the Import-kit/replicar show at Carlisle and I am not talking about the Carlisle Performance & Style show that is two weeks earlier or the Sports Compact show they had there a few years ago, It's not made up of the Tuner crowd that you ran into at State College. From what I heard the parking and entrance into the state college show was terrible. At this show half of the show field is made up of Kit cars (Cobra's, 356 Porsche's, GT-40's, Fiero's, etc.) and the other half are Imports from all over. A lot of MG, Austin Healy, Triumph, volvo, Saab, VW. We would like to get more of the Japanese cars to show up, and your GSL-SE would be a good example of that. There was even one Cosmo that attended last year. Your car doesn't have to be blinged out to attend.

Also Some of us will be attending the SCCA drivers school at the small road course on Sat. and running the Autocross on Sun.

Hope to see you there.

-Jeff
