Wideband Recommendation

What wideband kits do you recommend?
Looking for something affordable and accurate.
Really like the NGK AFX but it's a little out of my price range.

The NGK AFX is my favorite with regard to reliability and accuracy. Just tuned a car last week with one installed and the $1500 ECM wideband on the dyno agreed with the NGK AFX exactly at all times. I've heard the AFX is actually made by ECM for NGK, can't confirm that though. Upside is that it uses the NTK sensor versus the Bosch sensor everyone else uses. Downside is the display/controller box is a little clunky and hard to nicely integrate into the interior. Drop me a PM if you'd like a quote on one.

Other than that, the Haltech wideband controller has given us great results as well. Downside is that the display gauge is no longer available. So, unless you're integrating it into a EMS and relying on it to display the values, it's not much good.

Have had decent luck with AEM. Price is nice on these.

Other than that, avoid Innovate.

I will PM you Ludwig. Thanks for the post.
I will most likely go with the AEM but if I get the cash I'm definetly going with the AFX. It's tempting.
Avoid innovate? Can you clarify why?

BTW, this is all going on a Nikki 4-Barrel fed 12A. Daily Driver, also autocross ****.

i've got an innovate and its been ok, i've blown it up a couple of times, and it uses the bosch sensor which isn't nearly as good as the NTK sensor.

the bosch sensor is designed to go on a production car, so its not very fast, and that car was a VW, so its not very long lived either. they are cheap.

Suprised.
Figured Bosch was the better brand, specially since you can buy the NTK sensor pretty much anywhere..
That has me sold, I'm saving up for a AFX. There's no point in having a wideband if it isn't 100% accurate.

bosch is never the better brand. i don't know what its like where you live, but here every other shop is an independent BMW repair shop, but there are no independent toyota shops....

I can get NTK sensors at bumper to bumper, or oreilly's. Maybe autozone. Not sure.
The only place that might have the Bosch sensor is Autozone. So really the NGK product is the way to go if I need to buy a sensor..

I plan on running the sensor a meter after the flange. My primaries are 7" long, so I'll be way after the collecter.

I have the Autometer Pro-comp ultralite Wideband. It uses the NGK sensor, but I can't figure out what is the exact part number I need to replace it without paying out the *** drectly from autopmeter. I like it, but it does read incredibly slow. maybe 5 samples per second...

I'm ordering the AFX from Ludwig next week.
I think he'll take care of me,
I'm going to annoy him with as many questions I can ask. Hoping the AFX is as accurate as possible, data logging and comp sync would be nice too but not a necessity.

I got an AEM Uego unit. Not installed yet.

So far tested it with a lighter blowing butane into the sensor. It reacts quickly. Must have a fast refresh. Nice!
