Stock TII to N/A Build

Quick build/swap : Ive picked up a S5 Turbo stock port motor That i will run n/a. I got it cheap from a mate who had it sitting in his shed, Unknown k's or condition but was running, So i will throw it in an see how it goes. Will use my MT4 ECU and Dizzy from my old p-port motor.

Add a 10 pound fly wheel, Exedy clutch, Header's, 12a front cover :

Yep with turbo oil drain .. But will be blocked off.

You can't use a 12A cover with a FC oil pan, the lengths are different.

A 12A oil pan is the same overall length as an FC oil pan!

Bugger cant drive the 7 now ..... When the motor is off, You can push the clutch in, Select a gear and move the car forwards and backwards, Let the clutch out and it lock's up (like your push starting it) So it all seem's normal.

But : When the motor is running, And you push the clutch in it makes a really bad grinding noise. And it won't select any gear's. Any idea's ? Is the stock throwout bearing ok to use with a exedy clutch ?

Think i found my problem from searching, Time to get box out. Oh well it can be next weekends mission ...

If no noise at idle, pedal up trans ok.
If no noise at 1 inch, t/o brg ok.
If noise when fully depressed, pilot bearing. When this happens, it can eventually cause a problem with shifting if the bearing freezes, as it won't allow the trans main shaft to stop turning.

Sounds like a pilot bearing!

These can go bad if you use a bolt to force the mating of the trans with the engine.

Definitely the pilot bearing, that's exactly what mine did before locking up completely. Do yourself a favor and get the bearing puller from mazdatrix, it's expensive but worth it for the hassle you can avoid! I would say upgrade your clutch while you're in there. Mine is stock and isn't really holding the power I'm making now. Slips a lot in the first 2 gears.

What im looking for is what stock parts can i use to make my rx7 na and get it back on the road any help would be great.

Sorry alldaybored can't help, But did you end up getting your 7 sorted ?

Well finally pulled car apart (Didn't end up selling it, buyer couldn't get the coin), Clutch plate center was 1 spline to big ....... Didn't even notice when I put it together bugger it. The guy I bought it off said it was off his 12a so I just put it in oh well.

Anyway new exedy replacement stock clutch now fitted, 7 back together, All fixd, Just have to sort brake master then can go for a drive. Man it's been a long time.

I am really curious about these T2 to na swaps. Honestly it sounds like the way to go, with the port set up on them. I would like to know if you kept the same rotating assembly that came in the turbo or did you swap to a s5 na? Also the drivetrain, does the block have to be modified to house the t2 transmission? Or can you use a s5 na transmission?
