porting a 13B

I will start off by saying that I am am running a 86-89 N/A13b with megasquirt II. the motor is in a sand rail. I am wanting to port the motor, but I was wondering, do I need to buy the whole $800 rebuild kit with the apex seals, or is the $150 gasket set enough. is it common for people to port the motor with only the gasket set? thanks.
Jake

once you have the keg apart you can measure the seals to find out if they should be replaced. If you have good compression now then chances are they will be fine and well within spec.
