newbie porting ????

there is a lot of porting going on and i guess my question is what kind of porting is best how many different types of porting are there ??

That depends on whats best for you and your need. Big into racing, boosted or not just a little to get hairs on the back of your neck up, there's a port for you. You need to tell a lil more about what your looking for. Type it in the search above, ha ha it in there.

yeah, you're probably better off searching. anyway to get you started, aside from stock, there are 3 major types of porting: (1)street, (2) bridge, and (3) peripheral. [use those as your search string] however, there can be any number of combinations of the aforementioned port types. as was said, it depends on what you're looking for in terms of your final results.
