GA Half Bridgeport with Magnaflow VT muffler NO GO

Sup guys i thought i would post my experience with a muffler I decided to try out. as we all know the rotary engine with a straight pipe can get pretty loud especially with any kind of port work done.

So in a attempt to loud the sound on my super loud car I purchased this from summit racing : blush:

This is Magna flows VT muffler. it has a flapper door with a spring that keeps it close until it gets pushed open by exhaust gas so it does not restrict flow. this all sound good on paper but for my half bridge 13b the pulsing exhaust gases at idle don't match up to well with this concept. so if you are thinking about getting one of these for your ride dont if you have any port work done.

here is a video

Don't worry. That flapper will wear out in about a week then you will be loud all the time!

That kind of muffler, by default, has to have some restriction in order to work. A high overlap engine will not tolerate any restriction.

My old exhaust system was two 2.5" straight through mufflers and it was 4psi backpressure. Now I have a complete RB long primary exhaust system (is also straight through) and backpressure is less than half. Plus it's a ton quieter.

the hushpower doesn't work either, sounds the same as the borla (loud) and was physically broken after 1 track day.

Op this is a Dynomax VT not Magnaflow. I just bought one a couple months ago myself to experiment with. I think it will work with my bypass setup to help with drone.

This is the only muffler I found that works and has good flow and will not burn up fast.

wow that is super quiet. but i was told with a bridge port you should always run short primaries because of the high overlap?
