Q&A for Steve Kan tuning session in Albuquerque
Hey guys I talked with chris at dyno edge, and some guy at the awd dyno in RR. The awd guy said probably 600-700 bucks for the dyno and chris at dyno edge said 100 dollars a car.. he said probably 500-600 So i figure the dyno edge(off of juan tabo and i-40) is the way to go. He will need a deposit in order to reserve the dyno for us. I need an EXACT list of who is getting a dyno tune that way we can get him a deposit. If there are 5 of us I'm guessing 40 dollars each for a deposit will get him 200 dollars to hold the dyno for us. PLEASE let me know whether you are getting a dyno tune SOON so I can collect deposits from everyone.
Do we have a schedule on who is tuned first? If not I got dibs son!! LOL.
I think we all should street tune. Since steve is traveling out here we should not have him travel all over alb for tuning at this dyno or that one.

well, the schedule is tentatively set up in the order of who gave me their deposit first, which puts you in pretty bad shape there lizzi, mr.slacks-a-lot
If anyone wants to go later or last, or just doesn't care, you can work that out amongst yourselves
As it stands presently
1) ME
2) Bill
3) Candy
4) Jamison
5) Josh
6) Chuck
7) Lizzi

I personally WILL be getting a dyno tune along with 1 other person I know of (but he is last on the list to get tuned since he did not send a deposit in time.. already talked to steve about this) Now since to my knowladge there are only TWO people getting dyno tuned and this has to be done on a saturday.(since dyno edge is not open on sunday) I have already set this up with Chris at dyno edge, he is awaiting my deposit. we could do dyno tuning saturday morning and ya'll can decide over order of street tuning saturday afternoon and sunday.
I think you need to schedule people on what makes sence.....who cares when people put in their deposits. The people who need the dyno should all be done on Saturday next to each other.
I don't have any problem with that, although it would appear there are too many chefs and chefettes in the kitchen. :~)
Well it looks like I may be the only one getting dyno tuned (maybe 1 other) so to me it makes since to do dyno tuning 1st thing saturday then spend the rest of the time doing street tuning that way we dont have to run back and forth to different shops. Does anyone think this is a bad idea?
As far as the dyno time vs street time. . .i think it definitely makes the most sense to consolodate the dyno time, however I think it'd be best to do the dyno later in the day because it is indoors.
It'd be nice to be able to tune outside before it heats up and then after the peak heat in the evening. Avoid as any undue overheating issues of both the engine and the driver and Steve because I know some folks don't have A/C
just thinkin outloud. . .what does everyone else think?

I think it would make sense to do the dyno tune cars either early in the morning or late at night. It gets 10-20F hotter inside the room than outside. As for tuning on the street, as long as everyone has the extra O2 bung where I can mount the O2 sensor. It shouldn't take too long to tune them.
Make sure everyone do the following:
Please replace the following.
Fuel filter (if more than 10k miles or over 1yr old)
Spark plugs + wires (If your running 14+ pounds of boost, or tuning with race gas. Please install race plugs.)
Clean or replace air filter
Please have all modifications installed properly. It will only waste time if I have to track down vacuum leaks and troubleshoot other issues. So please have the car in good running shape before the tune.

sounds good. . .
what are the hours for the dyno facility to be open? I'd say, if they're not open within a real close time to when Steve wants to start tuning in the morning (which is completely up to him) we should street tune first, otherwise, doesn't much matter. 6 one way one half dozen the other to me.
