SMS recently had some pavement work which added a few feet to the course. I've run it in a half-track, full-track, and various autocross configurations. I've only rented it as an individual and have no idea what it would cost to rent it as a group.

There is also Arroyo Seco Raceway. I've never been down there, but I hear it is much more open (no concrete walls to smash into). There's a very inexpensive race series held there throughout the year: ASR Super Lap.

In the past, it's been difficult to get a rotary-specific meet together. Perhaps we can have an initial meet at one of the various SMS racing events. In particular, the RSW DriftCross is an inexpensive event that provides plenty of track time in a part road course, part autocross configuration. If there were enough of us, we could probably get our own RX-7 run group (typically around 5 to 6 cars). The next RSW DriftCross event is June 12 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Well lets set a date for a get together first before we all meet at the track. I think the 12th of June would be a good day to have everyone meet up. It's after the the big weekend and some people are going to be gone for a bit, I know I am. Plus everyone should be back by then, and we can all get together and discuss a track day meet. Also after this I think a meet once a month would be a good thing and also we can help each other out with problems and stuff. What do you guys think? Now lets get a head count and a place to meet up. Also I don't know the area that well yet so people from here please help with a location.

I think it would be cool if we could all pitch in for the day and have a RX-7 day. When I lived in Germany the 7's would have a day at Nurburgring, so would the Supra guys and Skyline guys. I used to love to go to those. I also used to go the Czech Republic and rent a track for like 100 bucks for the hole day, because we had a huge Rx-7 club. Plus I was the rich guy because I had US dollars and not rubles. I think we should try to do something like that here. What do you guys think?
If you've spent time at tracks like Nurburgring you are going to be HORRIBLY ..HORRIBLY.. disappointed at sandia motor speedway. But as the saying goes.. beggars can't be choosers and at least we have a road course to enjoy around here. I however wont take the risk of putting my FD on it. I would be more then happy to come watch everyone else

I like going to tracks and just having fun doesn't matter where or what it is. I'm kind of the same way with my FD, just really don't want to race it yet. I'm completely redoing the car so I'm not going to race it, but I will take my 86 out and I know my wife wants to take her Supra. I wish I still had my T2 that I used to race at the ring, I would race that all day.

There's a non-points SCCA event, that is happening at Sandia Motor Speedway on June 12th. Might be a good excuse for all us RX7's meeting up. The date has been set, but the other details are still being set. Should be $50 for the day. Here's where you should find more info when they get it.

Sounds good for a spot to meet, I know DaminSoul said that too. So what does everyone think for a meet. You don't have to enter just a meet. Now I know I was talking about a track day but this is not it, more of a get together and hang out. If you decide to enter go ahead we all be there to cheer you on. Is that good for everyone?

Just a heads up - I think it costs $5 for spectators to get into the track. I'll be there running.

For the people that can't make it don't worry about it I'm going to make sure we have another meet. Right now guys I'm not sure if I'm going to make it or not so if I miss it someone try to plan for the next meet and see what people would like to do. Lets really try start a monthly thing out of this, and I will see about getting a day of racing just for the 7's somewhere. I'm sorry if you drag guys are out there since I'm a road course kind of guy, but I'm all for a meet at a drag strip. I just want to have a track day on a road course like what I used to do in Germany. Also if you know any other rotary guys invite them out too. Let's try to make this a awesome first meet.

There are many ls1 7's here in town.. might want to think about including them also If the meet is at a drift event some of them will most likely be there anyways.
