Took three hours to pull. I hate tripping over tools. And Im slowtarded.
Next is to find out why it seized cus I'm curious.
Then tear apart the other motor to measure seal clearances and order seals

Word I need to find a spot to put parts for safe keeping... Then I can sand away.

I also need to find something to put that 12a in. I guess I could just get rid of it.

Sooo.... Really really reeaally lame failure.
Looks like it was filled full of alumaseal or mud in the coolant passages.
Every bearing is scored pretty bad along with the oil pump.
Oil pump pickup was half plugged with silicone.
I have no idea why it seized
Maybe this

Well that sucks. Your other housings are fairly low mileage eh?

Yea it ran when I pulled the motor out. It was just using more coolant than gas. Housings should be proper. I just hope the coolant seal grooves are intact

Porting is almost done! Apex seals are on the way. Still need to weld up some kind of exhaust so I don't hit the brown noise and shake all my guts out

so, I have a non turbo 13b, anyone know what a good rwhp would be for drifting? I'd prefer to keep it n/a, as long as I can, probably one of the last things I'll do, I can do it for a little while, but with only a K&N as far as aftermarket power goes, not much past base hp

Drifting - RX7Club.com

Question much better suited here. You don't need much hp just speed.

And I don't think rx7s are very good cars for drift. Atleast without modified knuckles. The low polar movement kinda makes it snap into an inertia drift. And you usually don't have enough steering angle stock to catch the car. Most rx drifters seem to clutch kick. Which takes atleast a modified TII around 300 to 350. And a good LSD is crucial. Stock usually will not work unless you can shim it or rebuild it with thicker clutch plates. Hope this helps a little. And like ransom said drifting forums is a good place to start. But search first. That forum can be brutal to newbs

TougeMonster, Thank you, it does help, I've found clutch kicking to work best, unless on gravel I can just power over, I've also been looking into a 20b swap and keep the 13b in the garage just incase, but is the power worth the price? I've always worked on my own cars, never owned a rotary though, I know there is a big difference and I understand how a Rotary engine works, but this is also my first car that money isn't just dumped on repairs to get it to run right

IMO a 20b is ideal for an FC if your drifting. In theory anyways.
It adds weight to the nose which changes your polar movement more towards the front
You get more torque and power with less stress on the cooling system
Sounds really good too
It's just expensive.
So for a track drift car yes. For the touge **** we have around here I'd say its really not worth it unless you really just want a 20b
But expect around 15k to do a swap proper.

But I've never driven a 20b car, or drifted a turbo car,
and I've never had enough power to drift proper.
I've only done scary high speed lift off drifts cus my car is slow

So that's just a slightly educated opinion of sorts

Turbo does er just dandy with throttle application. Well with 850 treadwear. Haha

If that is your car in your avatar I would keep that nice. Mod it a bit maybe. Pick up one of these shitbox used ones around the state and drift kill that.
