Hey I flat blacked my corolla and it looked fine but I only did it because I was getting all kinds of rock chips from this drift course I used to go to. It was on a old runway and when I would screwed up I would end up in the weeds and sticks. After the event I would pull out some sand paper and hit it with my rattle can, but when you work on the car and have oily hands don't touch the paint it will leave big oil stains in the paint. I should have just cleared it but I was showing my wife how to paint and she sprayed it. Now on my FD, no way in hell am I going to paint it flat black, it looks so sexy gloss black If price is a issue just shoot it yourself. It's not hard just a shitload of prep work and that is the most important thing in painting is your prep work. It's your choice just clear it if you go flat black.
