You are no fun. There are plenty of rotary guys that like talking about stomping a V8! This is the chance of their lifetime. They don't have to chase one down - I am coming to them!

I couldn't understand what you just said. I will leave you guys alone for now, but I will put subliminal messages in my signature to convert you to the engine that was touched by the hand of god.

Ok ok, that was bad. I hope we all run 12s or faster this year, no matter which engine is under the hood.

I don't care either way....if Sleeper does come out with a car that kicks my ***.....that must mean he's doing good with his stocks, which means he must be making me some money since he is investing some of my money! Win Win for me!

Exactly! My goal is to make sure Mike has enough money to be the fastest rotary so this year should be interesting.

People that rip on v8 FD's are funny. It is still the same car, just a motor swap. We still have the same goal as the rotary people, to make our car fast. Ours just get better gas mileage, are more reliable, easier to make faster, and sound better I had a blast driving my rotary, but 21k miles after it was built by peter farrel, it done blowed up. We still drive RX-7's. Can't we all just get along!>? haha ok that was lame sorry. Looks like we have quite a few fast rx7's around here, heck yeah!

I never ment for it to sound like a V8 bashing in any way, I too appreciate a well built anything.

And I would agree like I've said before. Building a V8 is cheaper, more reliable, etc. etc..

My point was just because the VIN badge still says FD, it is no longer a complete as stock FD

So to me it's not an apples to apples race just because the bodies are still the same, is all I was trying to say. It's all good V8 or 13B, only my opinion.

To each their own!

What about a Rotary being

Much more hp per liter, weighs less, looks better, keeps the value of the car, unique, easier to build, cheaper to build, and the Rotary will always sound better!

Not really cheaper (especially when HP is a concern), easier (hmmm...), and the rest well...ok, maybe?

A fully built 13B is much cheaper than a fully build V8 is what I meant.

Guess that's all in your definition of "fully built"?

How much have you put into the engine?

What would be cool is if RX-7s can take the fastest "street" car times in CO this season. - back to back 12s or faster runs.

weighs less? A stock rotary weighs more than a stock ls1.... Ls1's are friggin light. I would assume after the stock twins are gone, the rotary might weigh ~20-30 pounds less tops. They are very very similar in weight! And yeah, to fully build a v8 can cost a pretty penny, but we don't have to do that till 600 rwhp!

It doesn't need to be fully built for that. My last one was 691 whp/732 fl lbs and it wasn't fully built

I think I remember the Rotary weighs 90 lbs less than a LS1....but I could be wrong! I do know it is lighter though!

I did a quick search and found this on here....

"The ~400lbs I quoted was a fully dressed 13B-REW.

That estimate actually matches pretty well with your numbers. A LS1 converted FD will add about 60lbs to the weight of the car. Consider in the conversion you'll lose the cats, put in a smaller battery, ditch the IC and piping, etc so you'll lose some of the 90lbs added in engine weight and end up with a car that weighs about 60lbs more than stock."

I saw somewhere else it was more but it's less than a 10th of a second anyways.

As in if we posted a list of Colorado "street" cars at the end of the season and FDs filled up the majority of the faster time spots.
