Colorado Springs
I am going to visit Colorado Springs next March and if I like what I see, I may be looking to relocate there in a while, but I am curious to know how the RX7 community is in Colorado? Also, how is the overall racing scene in that area? Are there any road courses, drag courses, gymkhana, scca events, etc...in that area? I am debating getting back into cars again, but if I end up moving to Colorado and Colorado ends up having nothing to do with cars short of EVO's and STi's, then maybe I need to rethink getting back into cars.
Just checking in to see what other people honestly think about the area.
Thanks,
Scott

Pikes Peak International Raceway - http://www.ppir.com/
High Plains Raceway (new track east of Denver airport and sooooo sweet!) http://www.highplainsraceway.com/

mostly is stis and evos and hondas
i think the car scene kind of sucks here but haven't tried too hard to find it either.
but we do have some the best mountain roads in the country, as long as there isn't snow on it.

I have been debating between getting another FD, or going with a Z06....but if I decide to move to Colorado in a year or two, then maybe I should also look into the STi or EVO as well. I will wait until I visit the area in March and then I will see what car choice I need to make. I am not looking for a "scene" or anything, I don't go out on weekends or night times to sit in parking lots, but I would not mind to find a group of racers, enthusiasts, etc...for random meets, track rentals, or cruises.

the fellas over at colorado mazda club have a lot of meets and cruise, etc.
i vote fd because i live in denver so turbos give a much better advantage than n/a but z06 is still nuts. come to think of it there are quite a few nice fd's for sale out here right now for cheap.
living here i recommend get a sports car, z06 or fd, then get a reliable beater 4x4 because the snow can get tall out here sometimes and if you wreck or someone wrecks into you (way possible) then you can just junk it and buy another one.
so far this plan has worked out for me.

How many months a year are the cars pretty much garaged due to weather? I know it can be cold and it can snow 6-8 months out of the year at times, but as far as normal use, how often would you guys say your cars are parked due to weather?
Also, are there any decent shops for tuning RX7's in Colorado? I can have everything I would want done down here, but obviously 6000' in elevation, temp changes, humidity changes, etc...are going to effect any tune I have, so I will either need to bring a tuner in to tune in that area, or I will have to find someone who I can depend on in that area. The more I think about it, I can't see an RX7 being a good choice for Colorado unless you guys have some hidden gems out there in the tuning world that can do more than just a WOT tune.

so far this year there's only been a total of maybe two weeks i haven't driven my sports car.
but it depends on what you're comfortable driving in.
hopefully some others will chime in and help better.

I just moved to denver from chicago. The scene here is not what i was hoping. I cant wait to get my evo/rx7 on the track next year though. Ive heard good things about a couple tracks here. IM PRAYING TO HAVE MY 7 DONE BY THE SPRING. but who knows.
Im always driving in my Sti and never see anything but hondas. A evo or subaru here and there, but nothing crazy
Lots of hondas. I have more hondas come through my doors looking for parts and work done then i ever wanted.
I have a little shop off I25 and 58th if any one is in the area Pm for a adress and swing by

we have quite a rotary scene here in colorado springs. we usually meet once a week at sonics but since its getting a little cold we dont meet as much. im not quite sure how much of us are in the racing scene but we do cruise up to the mountains once in a while.
here are some of us at a meet/cruise
thats not all of us but that is just the springs area.
also as for rotary shops we dont quite have one but we share alot of useful info among each other if you need any help.

Hey, I don't know if this thread is still going but I'd love to know about the meets in the area. I'm a 1st Gen owner and would be really pumped to get out and see more RX owners.
