Albuquerque Emissions

Hey New Mexicans,

I was freaking out about registering my FD, in fact Philip and myself were considering removing the downpipe, replacing the cat-back, and even buying a new cat, just to pass. I figured I'd give it a try before I did anything drastic. Here's the set up, where I went, and the preparation I did before hand.

mods
cat back
intake
downpipe

Tom replaced fluids, oil, transmission, rear dif, and he also replaced the spark plugs. I also ordered a new O2 sensor from rx7.com, I think the new plugs and the sensor helped a lot. The compression test revealed it was spot on.

Before pulling in I drove the car for about 20 minutes up and down I25, I figured this would clean out the cat, I'm not really sure if it did much.

The real kicker was the place I went, he said he didn't have the right tools to hook up some doohickey to the spark plugs. Therefore he used what he referred to as a "floating sensor" basically it laid on the engine for a minute or two. Regardless everything passed with flying colors, the guy even told me that the emissions were extremely low.

The emissions place is located on Louisiana and Montgomery on the Southeast side of the street, it's just this little box, the guy's name was Paul. So if anyone is having emissions nightmares, it might be worth your while to check it out. By the way this guy seemed pretty knowledgeable, meaning he didn't ask me if it was a V6, he knew it was a 1.3 L rotary.

Well Sean, if you hadn't had a messy break up with your emissions guy, none of us would have had a hassle in the first place. What's the ETA on the second gen anyway? We are all dying to see that thing kick some ***.
