Reasonable price on a Motec M48?

I'm having problems getting an SEFI-8LO system and I'm looking for alternatives. Does anyone know where to get a reasonable price on a Motec M48 system?

Doing some looking myself, just haven't found anything yet.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks Tim. I know where I can buy one from, but it's almost impossible to do comparison shopping on the internet and my only other choice is to call each shop, get a price, figure out where the best deal is, and... don't have time for that, or the patience.

Luckily it looks like they're going to come through with the SEFI-8LO. They're waiting on one component and it should ship Thursday or Friday.

Thanks again!

what is an SEFI-8LO anyway? Motec is not advertised as much but I remember looking at a complete system for about $7500 with out all the options. only the basics. what type car is this for also?

SEFI-8LO started out as a Fel-Pro product, then Speed Pro, and now is a FAST (can't remember what that stands for, but it's the same product) aftermarket engine management system.

S(equential)
E(electronic)
F(uel)
I(njection)
-
8 (eight!)
LO (low impedance injector driver)

Basically a Haltech with better software, for a little more reasonable price. I paid $1,790 for my SEFI-8LO and $300 for the splice harness to tap into my LT1. Mil-spec connectors, latest version of C-Com software, etc. The engine will be dyno tuned before it ever gets installed in my car, which is nice.

The Motec M48 would have been nice since I could have converted to coil-per-cylinder (not absolutely necessary, but it is cool looking), but at more than twice the price. An optical distributor "elimination" kit would only cost ~$750 and still allow me to do the same thing, if I chose.

When I was first looking for engine management systems for the rotary I did see the Fel-Pro system, but it seemed to be marketed at the domestic V8 crowd. I have heard some guys are using it on the rotary motor, but I have not seen anything myself. I did see lots of V8 conversions and alot of thier accessories are made for this type conversion. the Haltech is actually a little cheeper at about $1200 w/harness, but you would have to build your own harness adapter. the Haltech could also be used with out the distributor, but you would need to make a chopper wheel and bracket for the pick up. could also be direct fire with four dual post coils in a wasted spark setup like most OEM systems. I opted for the Haltech for the support I found for the rotary engine. Once you have yours up and running I would love to hear how well the FelPro system works and some of the benefits it has. good luck
