Your local Rotary shop
Any suggestions for a knowledgeable shop in the Chicagoland area?
My car is a 1983 GS with likely carb problem (stuck float). Car starts fine and runs, but clearly is getting too much fuel (black smoke and obvious gas smell) and will bog out unless driven extremely gingerly. I'm hesitant to jump into it myself for fear of worsening the situation.
I searched the forums on this site and the two links were more fabricator / racing oriented shops. I just need a trustworthy tech with enough familiarity with these cars, sourcing parts, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Heads up to Indy folks, AIM Tuning in gasoline alley has closed their doors. I talked to the owner, he said business was great but he just wasn't enjoying the work anymore.
Though they downsized a few years back and weren't doing rotary work anymore anyway, just MX-5 stuff.

These guys did a full rebuild on my '94 FD after the coolant seal failed. They did a great job, including finding top quality, value priced used housings. I am not a mechanic, but I am an engineer and I know good work from a good outfit. Message me for a referral or visit Rotors Performance on FB.

Hey Rob I'm looking for a good shop in Tulsa , are you still running a shop?
Shop name: Rotary Doctor
Location: Neosho, MO
Owner: Kyle Seaman
Phone: (417) 451-9661
Description: Small one mechanic shop with a good selection of parts cars. Kyle is one of the most knowledgable guys I've ever known. He has every nut and bolt memorized on RX-7's. Not to big on doing extensive modifications. But builds good motors, and does excellent repair work. He's a good guy that's supported rotaries since the early 70's. He deserves your support if you live in SW Missouri.

Finding a reliable rotary shop is important since these engines need specialized knowledge and proper maintenance. It helps to work with technicians who understand rotary tuning, seals, and cooling requirements. I once heard a driver from Luxury Rides LLC mention that choosing the right shop can greatly extend engine life and performance.
