maybe not. this may be a little conceded but it seems like the website is run by a bunch of older rx-8 owners who want to show off thier cars more than they drive them, and even a few of the fd owners seem like that. Very few members, very poorly put together website (could make better one using html), inactive forums, lame club events, very few fc's etc.

ik for a fact that there has to be waaaay more members in WI than that club. so maybe ill just meet them while burning rubber and start my own club.

sorry for any members that might be in that club and nothing personal but its my personality, have always been a leader/ and or when i dont like something would like to have my voice heard.i am also a compulsive perfectionist and would not be able to put up with that website.

Any club member in good standing can announce their candidacy for any of the officer positions. Also, any member can nominate another member and if that is the case you will be notified of such nomination and will be given the opportunity to accept or decline such nomination.
i really dont think they would nominate someone to be a club leader if you have to be an already previous member in good standing to be in other positions.

i joined thier forums and will continue to check in once in awhile to see how the club is doing, but i will not go out of my way to just join thier club and be the "leader".

i just kind of dont like the way things are run.. it seems like they have a certain ranking system for members or something. i also believe that if i suggested changing the website the answer would be "no we dont have the funds".

May seem Pompous, but dont take me wrong i mean no disrespect to any members the club just doesn't impress me and id rather not be in it or rather start my own in some time.

well the guy i bought it from lived in watertown but he got it from a milwuakee guy yes.

not quite sure about whats all on it but i will try and guess.
18" racing star rims
yokohama avids
clear turn to pass signals
stripped interior
fucked up wiring
3-4" exhuast piping all the way from the manifold
an air filter
and a whole clusterfuck of bad wiring.

apparently, now this is what i was told by the watertown seller, the car used to have a twin turbo engine and the old engine blew up so they put a new engine in the car.

well i now know that the car probably never had a turbo becuase its an 86 gxl...

anyways why do u ask? were u the milwaukee owner?

93 VR R1 in Sussex, WI. My gf lives near delafield so i pop through there sometimes. Otherwise i stick to Sussex, Menomonee falls, or downtown milwaukee where i work. You won't see my car much i basically only have time saturday and sunday to take her out and am very uncomfortable leaving her unattanded for a long time.

The WI club is suffering the same fate as the MN rotary club, which simplistically is, the people who helped get it off the ground with all the effort it takes, etc, put forth that effort for as long as they could on their own and are burnt out. A lot of people like to join "clubs" for whatever reason but unless a group of them consistently help with issues (web site, forum, get togethers, venues, etc), it will not do so hot. What you are seeing and criticizing is left overs of this spent effort after a few years of neglect, abuse, and the people that were putting forth the effort moving on to other things like their own personal life, etc.

Fair enough?

So yes, it is somewhat egotistical to come in out of the blue and expect to be dazzled by flash and glitter of an established club web site and be presented with normalcy. Clubs don't all have budgeted advertising campaigns to wow people you know. However, your assessment is certainly valid and fair so you have a choice - step in a help with an existing, established club that Mazda recognizes and sponsors money to every year, or... start your own as you suggested from the ground up and try to recruit people. You've also got to realize that there are different age groups and perspectives within a club on what they want from it; racing, hang out, shows, etc, so not everybody is going to fit your model and why portions of the club members do their own thing but as a whole they benefit.

There are a good number of members, and it is a RX-club, not RX-7, know why? Because it's a wider group of enthusiasts. Go to MRR, you'll like it. Many of all the cars you love are there.

I'm personally trying to figure out if it is worth starting a sister chapter, if you will, in the middle of the state, about 2.5 hrs from the home of operations in the Sheboygan area. There are a lot of guys in the Appleton, Stevens point, and Green Bay area, and I'd like for us to be able to do things, without driving so far.
If I wasn't a student, and working, and fixing my car all the time, I'd put more in than my $10.

And while there are many members of RX7club.com in the area, not so many are in the RXclubOf WI, for a few reasons, geography being the largest. I know I do my part though, I put fliers on windshields and give them to people when I can.

see i think it should be split into 3 parts north, central and south to help out with gaining members in similar locations. each seperate chapter would have thier own smaller meets much more often and then the larger meets statewide for the whole club being less in occurance though. and the finances to fund these would be handled by each division organizer.

i like the initiative you take to try and get more members to join, but one of the other major factors i saw was that many of the members were very spread out.

i will join the club as soon as i can come up with a spare 10.00 that i dont know what to do with bc right now i have other things to spend it on.

Well, you don't really need a chapter of a club to have an organized meeting.

It's just getting numbers. For the past few years, I've been trying to get people to join up and just go to the Iola Old Car Show. Yeah, it's old cars, but a lot of muscle and stuff is there, too. To be in the show, the vehicle must be like 30 years old, but to be in the corral, only 20 years old. That's a lot of sweet cars.

And we don't even have to put the cars in the show, just a cruise/meet there. Park in the same area and people will flock to it, as long as they can see you.

But some people don't want to get off their butts and actually do something.

The chapter idea is probably the best because the club is registered with the state as non-profit. Being a chapter of such an organization means no taxes, donations from others with again...no taxes or proceeds, and as long as you meet at least once a year - you can maintain that status. The only thing that would have to be done is to figure out your financials as in where does the money go...one central account that everybody has access to (the best option but relies on some trust), or multiple accounts for each area (not the best - more book keeping and things to screw up for an audit to catch).

Take note of the comment I made earlier about Mazda sponsorship. The MRR gathering every year at Road America is paid for, in part, by Mazda, and we get a free corral spot every year courtesy of them as well. In addition, we get privileged access to the P2 LeMans car for about 30-45 minutes that weekend. Pretty cool stuff that both clubs, or you guys as one club with multiple chapters could expand upon.

I'm actually from Wausau so if you guys have something in the area I can stay with relation and hang out but I need at least 1-2 months notice for scheduling...

There's also car shows along the border of WI/MN that we could meet at such as La Crosse, Osceola, New Richmond for instance that are pretty decent and have a variety of makes/models in attendance.

I'm in the Sheboygan/Milwaukee/Lake Geneva area. My TII sees lots of miles every weekend. I just got the suspension in, but I may be pulling the motor within the next few weeks to freshen her up and port it So we'll see
