I called VP in Indiana about having some at the shop. They want $800 for a 54 gallon drum delivered. That means I would have to charge $16 per gallon just to cover my expenses and time spent dealing with it.

If anyone wants me to have it here at that price tell me how many gallons you want. If we hit 30 gallons or more committed I'll call and get some on the way.

Sorry that's the best I can do.

Steven

VP Prices are outrageous but nobody can compete with their C16. You might want to look into becoming a VP Dealer. The only place in our area that carries it is D&M. If you bring it, people will come.

D&M sells it for $11.50 a gallon now ( I think ) so I'm not sure how much they have to buy in order to get it for that price.

I talked to both the VP distributor and D&M. VP distibution can't sell it below retail because then they would be undercutting their distributors. D&M will sell 54 gallons at $616 for pickup in Breeze, but the best timeframe they could give was "third or fourth week of February". There is NO WAY I would count on them having it in time.

There is a lot of red tape involved in becoming a fuel distributor that I'm not up for right now, but maybe down the road.

Thanks!
Steven

I got the last 10 gallons that they had in Dec. and I told you guys that they WERE NOT ordering anymore. Steve, it would be awesome if you started carrying VP all the time because I hate driving out to hickville, IL to get it.

Yea, Performance Parts Plus in Granite City has tried to carry VP but they can't because D&M tells VP that THEY are the STL location. That is complete BS they are like 45min to 1 hour from STL. PPP said that they can't get it because it will cut into D&M's sales, because no body wants to drive to the middle of nowhere to get gas if it will be available in STL. Anyway D&M sucks ........

I thought that since it is sealed, it is good???????

Its not like it has been sitting in his shop all summer, a bunch of motorcycle guys ordered like 30 - 5 gallon drums in November and he kept 2 of them. Then I bought them.

Gasoline can lose volitile components if left open to the atmosphere, it can pick up moisture and it can oxidize. All of these result in a reduction in the octane rating. If it's in a properly sealed container it should be fine.
