Eh, i eneded up with issues myself. I figured i woudl take quite awhile, so i jsut hung around waiting for the end of the day so some other guys could get out of there in a timely manner. I had no issues with it and had a pretty steady flow of friends and peopel comign by to talk to and hang out with.

Lets see, the RX8 - at about an hour and a half into the tuning, Had Throttle body issues and now the car is stuck at a third throttle. Looking into getting another TB and trying the tune all over again. The Rx8 hit 220 whp on 5lbs of boost and never doing a full pull. The 220 was at 6500RPM. I am thinking with a full pull and at full boost (15psi) i would have come close to/ hit the 400 whp mark which was my goal going into this.

Either way, it was not a bad experience even though i still dont have a tune and it was a costly weekend. But none the less, i have come to realize that nothign goes right when working on these cars, hence why i brought a trailer and could have drove the bitch down.

It's more than not just firing the trailing. The front trailing was firing both front and rear trailing spark. It wasn't toggling between front and rear so we had to disable them. either way, I'm glad we got it figure out.

Anyway, I showed up with my FC that was running pretty janky until Steve got it to idle normally. He found that one of the trailing coils was not firing at all. I had to switch out the leading plugs with a couple of plugs that Ryan gave me. (Thank you so much Ryan.) I decided for Steve to tune it on just the two leading plugs. At this point I felt weird and a bit upset with myself... I started to question whether or not I was even worthy of owning an RX-7. Regardless, my car ran strong. My goal was 300HP... And my best run ended up being 322HP @ 12psi. I'm extremely happy with the results. I've got a lot more to do/change... It's a work in progress.

Thanks; Steve, Ryan, Black Widow employees, and everyone that made this possible.

Billet 6765, large street port, e85, aem. The rpm is wrong, it was calculated not picked up, pulls were to 8k.

Must be a BIG port. It was still climbing at 8k then. And your torque is very impressive for the hp.

Intake ports aren't that large, but the exhaust is big. I was suprised by the tq as well, e85 likes timing 23.5 degrees and still no knock.

depends on the dyno but -

HP = (Tq x RPM) / 5252

so it's off of course if his rpms are fucked.

Basically look at where his tq and hp cross - not at 5252.

That means it's not a valid dyno reading.

If he used a DynoJet they use a fixed mass rolling drum, and measures how quickly you accelerate the mass.

I always liked the horse analogy..... heheh oh god think I had a physics 201 flash back...

Force = Mass * Acceleration, or F = ma (How hard a horse pulls a cart)

Work = force * distance (how far the horse moves the cart)

Power = force * distance / time (how fast the horse moved the cart X distance)

and that is why power is measured in horse power..... because it was a unit of work expressed over time.

coure that is not in angular but straight line.

little bit of substitution -

Power - (Mass * acceleration * distance) / time

The mass is the weight of the rollers.

The acceleration is obtained by measuring the speed the rollers.

Distance is obtained from the circumference of the rollers and the number of revolutions they made.

they both cross at 5252rpm... check the scale on the left then on the right between hp and torque....

Ya that skews the plots since they don't cross at 5252 by visual inpsection.

Tq is a function of hp and rpm – so if the rpm is off the tq is off.

His hp is legit – just not the tq numbers b/c he’s saying his rpm is off.

take for example the hp at the 6900 point ~ 500hp on the graph.

tq = 500(5252)/6900

tq= 380ish which appears correct (of course b/c it's calculated since the hq is only known)

now sub in the correct rpm --

tq = 500(5252)/7900

tq = 332

so you have 332 vs 380 they would both cross over at the 5252 point b/c they are calculated.

I missed read that graph at first b/c the dual scale but i guess my point is the tq will be off if your rpm is off.

I know we did this way earlier this year... How did you guys access your dyno maps? I had mine e-mailed to me, but they are like .SFD files or something.

And are these results RWHP?

Yes, they are rwhp converted to dyno jet #s. I didn't have any issues opening the dyno file, google .sfd and you should be able to figure it out.
