Need shop in Michigan ASAP PLEASE HELP!

Long crappy story...had my car at Tuning Factory/Godspeed in Farmington Hills Mich. (metro Detroit)...they had the car since November for a rebuild. Things got more and more fishy....they stalled, had a million excuses etc...so I dropped in unannounced (i live 120 miles away in Canada). The place was boarded up with an eviction notice on the window!! A few insane homicidal hours and many phone calls later, I had the owners of the building open the doors for me and I finally laid eyes on my car. Here's the thing....I stupidly had paid them $3000 up front. I don't even know if I've gotten that much work out of them....they had claimed the rebuild was done and we were waiting for the PFC to come in....so with no ECU in the car I obivously could have no idea if the engine runs. I was slightly relieved to see my car, but it needs to be finished up....a tow back near home to the closest place that could work on it is in Toronto which would literally cost me about a GRAND to tow it...really trying to avoid that...anyone know of a shop reasonably close to Detroit that I could get this finished up? I briefly got excited about Banzai Racing, but then noticed they moved to Indiana a couple years ago. I'm gonna spend more time elaborating on these CROOKS and LIARS at Tuning Factory/Godspeed, but for now I wanted to get this message out....just worked nights and i gotta crash...I only have a couple days to figure this out...the property managers need to get their building emptied out......thanks for any help!

Banzai Racing in Pierceton, IN is your best bet. Chris Sanders works on almost all of the MI guys' cars. If you can drive to Detroit, you can drive there...it's not that far from the border.

And yes...Tuning Factory seemed fishy to me, too...took my Evo there to have some gauges installed and it took them all day...and then one didn't even work all the time.

I'd like to hear more about your story...also, post it up on www.xceedspeed.com/forums - that's the Detroit area import forum. A lot of those guys are members there

As far as I know there is no shop left in the metro area that specializes in rotaries. I would STRONGLY suggest having it moved to Banzai to do the work. If you're worried about the cost of transportation, rent a U-haul with a car carrier for the day.

Correct... Chris is the closest respectable rotary mechanic/tuner in this area.

Another choice may be the RX7Store in Ohio:

Yeah tuning factory is a joke...if you want someone with a good rep. to work on it go with steve khan/gotham.....banzai has had mixed reviews..but in the end go with what you want...there are way to many dumb people out there who should not give out information of any kind

Hey....thanks guys, just FYI to save you guys from wasted time at this point, I THINK I have my plan ironed out to go get my car....renting a car trailer and pickup....from London Ontario to Detroit, to Toronto then back to London. Longest most insane frustrating story ever to even get at that point...much worse than you could think, really...not about to drag you through the details lol (not really able to laugh, that "lol" was fake)....but just wanted to say thanks... I guess I'm set to deal with this....

ah.... tuning fagtory. yeah, my friend left a car there and it sat a year...... nothing happened. dan at godpseed is extremely terrible to work with and andy - no comment. it was good before they merged - at least andy's shop seemed to do ok-

my buddy said taht all of a sudden the government delivered his still dead car to his house- missing hood, keys, and some other small bits.

your FD cant be worked on in toronto? Yoshio cant help u out or anything?

I'm a local to this area - met. detroit, if you need a hand loading your car up or anything when you come pick it up, id be glad to lend you some manpower, ive got some bones to pick against godspeed and tuning factory as well........pm me if u wish. i am a former FD owner and have owned 10 FC's... so im a rotaryguy in my heart as well.

pass on RX7+auto addictions, id trust my honda to them or nissan (because those are garbage cars imo compared to a FD), they're nice guys but not rotary guys. their strongsuit is crazy bodywork and "show car" stuff, the owners don't have a motorsports background, probably wouldnt be most ideal for a FD or FC. I'm assuming you've got a complex build, complex enough to spend taht kinda dough and bring the car to michigan -

Update....welll everything imagineable has gone wrong so why would that change now? There was a problem with the pickup I had...no signals or 4 ways going to the trailer so Uhaul couldn't rent the trailer to me...so picking up my car was scrapped.....I DESPISE Tuning Factory for the insane circus this has become....

Check with www.mirotaryclub.net

That's the Michigan forum, so you might get some offers of assistance there. Good luck...

I live in MI and will not let anyone but Chris from Banzai racing touch my car. I've been ripped off before for $7k and it sucks. If you take your car to banzai you get a link to a site that shows the progress of your car daily so you do have to wonder whats going on. Check out the link of my build in my signature.
If you give them a call Elaine might be able to help arrange shipping, so you don't have to tow it your self.
Good luck

I strongly suggest Banzai as well. Sadly he is one of the few honest guys left in our community.

If I was into that part of work on these cars I would be more then willing to donate my time to the cause unfortunatly I dont know enough about builiding and/or tuning on the rotaries yet...

If it was just some install work I would do it for ya.

Good luck and from what I hear Banzai is the place to go
